For boys: Michael
Really not sure on a middle name.

For a girl: either Katherine or Elizabeth. Maybe Katherine as a first name and Elizabeth as a middle.

I know some people might find these names a bit boring and old-fashioned?

Lovely classic names, all of them. You can't go wrong with any of them.

KayEmAy · 08/07/2023 00:30

Yes boring but they are also classics for a reason, they're lovely

supersonicginandtonic · 07/07/2023 21:17

I'm a Katherine, I hate my name. Nobody ever calls it me, just a shortened version

bakewellbride · 07/07/2023 21:15

All fine. You'd obviously have to like all the nicknames too though!

Growlybear83 · 07/07/2023 21:14

I think they're lovely traditional names. Why bother with a middle name?

MrsGusset · 07/07/2023 21:12

Four of my favourite names in one post!

However I think that putting Elizabeth & Katherine together might be too much of a good thing. So I'd go for one or the other with Mary as the middle name.

Michael is great for a boy.

OliviaFlaversham · 07/07/2023 19:12

I like them all. Least keen on Elizabeth but maybe that’s just because it is heard more so in comparison doesn’t sound as fresh!

Like Kathryn and Katherine more than Catherine

UsingChangeofName · 07/07/2023 19:11

Lovely names. I like all your options.

Just check none of the common shortenings make you grind your teeth as people will shorten them.

Riverlee · 07/07/2023 18:57

Good, traditional names.

CC4712 · 07/07/2023 18:56

My SIL is Katharine and a friend is Catherine. I prefer your spelling, but also feel its a name that people will spell differently each time and be a life long of correcting. I prefer Elizabeth and it has less risk of mis-spelling. If she finds it too long, there are SO many options. Beth, Betty, Liz, Liza, Bethany etc.

Personally, I think of Mary as religious and rather plain. I like Michael though.

I know a lovely little three year old called Michael, he gets called Mikey. I think it’s a sweet name and not too popular at the moment.

SallyWD · 06/07/2023 23:10

Lovely names! And refreshing. Not at all boring.

Mumofgirls2017 · 06/07/2023 22:59

Not keen on Mary Anne or Mary Jane, but like Ann and Jane as first names

FayCarew · 06/07/2023 22:06

I like all of them. Mary seems fresher that Katherine and Elizabeth.
Love the name Michael

Dustyspringfield1 · 06/07/2023 22:05

I also like Mary Jane though I think it's a slang for drugs!

Love love Mary!

helpmum2003 · 06/07/2023 21:33

Lovely names. What about Martha?

ShoesoftheWorld · 06/07/2023 21:30

There is, of course, Mary Kate, of the lovely gentle stories.

ShoesoftheWorld · 06/07/2023 21:27

Oh, and Michael's great.

Theoldwoman · 06/07/2023 21:27

All good solid no-nonsense names.

ShoesoftheWorld · 06/07/2023 21:26

Katherine Mary is nice. I like Elizabeth too but think Katherine Elizabeth is a bit much and Elizabeth Mary or vica versa is a bit heavy on the royal references. If you want to shorten Katherine, I like Katy a lot (and for some reason I find that spelling much nicer than Katie). Or you could use a variant of Katherine like Katrina or Katinka.

PowderPeach · 06/07/2023 21:26

All good solid choices though I prefer Catherine with a C

DonoghueVsStevenson · 06/07/2023 21:23

My DD wanted DS to be called Michael. It's objectively a nice name and we'd have liked to let her have her choice but our last name is Jones and Mike Jones sounded so middle aged 😂 I think Mikey is sweet for a little boy though, and as PP mentioned Michael is quite underused now so it's nice in that regard. Of your girl names I like Mary best but the others are nice too. Classics.
