Loki

Is Loki a good or bad name for one of our triplet boys?

DH and I jokingly names one Loki because in scans he's always playing up kicking the others, refusing to be measured or simply hiding half of himself! But the name has stuck and DH wants it on the list for names.

I know of the name Loki from just being me but I think people would assume we are massive marvel fans. Neither of us have watched any of the movies or are that into the comic books. But using Norse hood names appeals 🤣

On a side note we are looking for names that are uncommon for boys. The little girl we have named almost (1st and 3rd name agreed) but boys are hard. They would have siblings called Theodore and Cordelia if that helps.

TIA

Dog's name near me

Tinkerbell5578 · 06/07/2023 22:08

Owain or Owen

Tinkerbell5578 · 06/07/2023 22:06

Quinn?

Hazelnuttella · 06/07/2023 19:23

Annie is really lovely

allthecats1982 · 06/07/2023 19:20

@Hazelnuttella my mum wants Persephone but we have chosen Annie because we are naming her after my mum. My mum helped us pay for the Ivf.

What will the girl be called?

I agree with pp that some shorter names might be in order for triplets.

KirstenBlest · 06/07/2023 19:17

Call the three new babies whatever you like. Don't give them short names if you wouldn't otherwise.

allthecats1982 · 06/07/2023 19:13

@KirstenBlest I already have two children. We did Ivf to get one more 🤣 I promised it would be the last time we did it (5th time) and low and behold we have triplets!

@allthecats1982 Do you have 2 children already with triplets on the way, or do you have no DC yet but 2 of the triplets are already named?

allthecats1982 · 06/07/2023 19:04

@KirstenBlest well Theodore and Cordelia already have their names so I can't change that. I'm just going to let everyone name one baby and have it done 🤣

These names all sound lovely but a nightmare to shout across the park when they all run in separate directions!

have you thought about one syllable names?

By the time you’ve got the names Persephone and Theodore out, clementine and Lachlan will have run for the hills!

This.

I think it would take you a while to say 'Cordelia, Theodore and Loki' compared to something like 'Tess, Max and Kit'

OopsOhNoZHM · 06/07/2023 18:23

Naming boys is definitely harder than girls, by a long shot! There were names I liked with my first, that I then wasn't keen on with my second. I remember the struggle with my second, we got to a point where we would sit on a night going through our DVD collection shouting out character names and actor's names 😂

I see you've come away from Loki, I absolutely love that name, and I know everyone says the names should match and follow the same class but honestly, your children are all going to be different, why shouldn't their names?
I have 3 children, and when I was pregnant with my first I chose Zack, as it's a strong, stand-alone name that couldn't be shortened. By the time I was pregnant with my second son, I had no idea what I wanted 😂 but I knew I wanted different, and the poor kid is named after a fat orange cat 😂 Heathcliff, because I randomly sang the theme song one night and we both instantly agreed. My daughter was the easiest, and she has a name I made up when I was 17. None of their names are on the same level, because they're all very different humans.
Food for thought 🤷🏼‍♀️ good luck with the naming, hope you manage to find names you both love 😍

BestieBunch · 06/07/2023 18:22

Oh I think it’s a great name. I’ve never watched Marvel.

cptartapp · 06/07/2023 18:21

God no. First thought was Lochia - post partum bleeding!

My best mates dogs Loki, so I couldn’t do it, but you go for it if you like it!!

menopausalbloat · 06/07/2023 17:52

I know of too many sphynx cats called Loki so it's a hard no from me.

ALJT · 06/07/2023 17:51

I don’t watch marvel much - my sons do but I really like the name Loki!

Theroofisonfiyah · 06/07/2023 17:49

My 12 year old son is called loki, and he loves his name! He's a very sensible boy, so it's ended up ironic really 🤣 there are more of them now, but it's also popular in dogs too 😉

@ChronicNameChanging because each one is separate and have been designated who is who. Triplet 1 is at the bottom and is a girl with a very low lying placenta, triplet two is the silly one and has an anterior placenta (and has tracked the biggest triplet so far on a consistent basis when he has allowed someone to measure) and triplet three is a small boy with a posterior placenta. So their placenta placements are meaning we can mark each one accurately and track them. The consultant said that helps when they're born because they'll try to identify each one as they remove them (they are going to be C-section because of my placenta previa risk).

That's fascinating, thanks for explaining Smile I've only had singletons and hadn't thought of placenta placement being used to keep track of them.

Theodore and Cordelia, Lachlan and ..

Not Persephone
Gabrielle
Philippa
Nancy
Alice

Atticus
Victor
Barry
Rupert

Fivebeanchilli · 05/07/2023 22:41

Oh I'm with your mom.
Persephone is gorgeous.
As is Gabriel.

Watchinghurling · 05/07/2023 22:31

I actually prefer Loki to Theodore and Cordelia.

MIBnightmare · 05/07/2023 20:42

I only know one Loki . It's a no from me. It's not the young boys fault- he is the product of appalling parenting .. but for me the name will forever be associated to a violent , bigoted, almost feral child.

PieonaBarm · 05/07/2023 20:02

We have a Tabitha in the family, which has grown on me to the point I now love it!
