Baby Barry?

I never thought I'd see that one make a comeback!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Gary just reminds me of the sea snail/ slug from spongebob

PinkLazyApple · 05/07/2023 13:05

@LaMarschallin hahaha!

gogomoto · 05/07/2023 13:05

I laughed when Arthur's and Archie's started to appear again. Met a little Dorothy the other day. All names seem to be cyclical. I'm waiting for the comeback of Gary and Tracey

Winnerturkeydinner · 05/07/2023 13:03

Barry Grant was a sex god. My teenage crush

LaMarschallin · 05/07/2023 13:01

Good for her! At least she’s not following the herd and calling him maverick or whatever.

I had a friend at school called Baree, after her dad who was a Barry!

soon things like Derek, Ian and Val will be the “cool old person” names!

Val?!
Cant wait to see that make.a comeback

Much nicer than Jayden, Jaxon, and all the other mixed up and messed up concoctions we are blessed with these days.

I agree with you.

eddiemairswife · 05/07/2023 11:54

Reminds me of Terry Wogan and 'Manly Barrilow'

AutumnCrow · 05/07/2023 11:53

A girl I know had a baby Roger a few month ago- I thought that was bad but Barry is something else.

My American cousin called her baby Colin so think it is different over there!

Yes- when I was having DD in 2017 the Reddit baby board was full of new baby boys called stuff like Colin, Derrick and Malcolm.

AutumnCrow · 05/07/2023 11:44

I just can't help think of Barry from Eatenders and Ben and Holly, BIG BAD BARRY!

Not the point of this thread, but that episode of Ben and Holly is cracker. My daughter, years ago, dressed up aa BIG BAD BARRY for Halloween. My favourite costume up date.

TallulahBetty · 05/07/2023 11:27

Barry, lol. A Facebook friend has just had a baby Dennis

All the great granny/grandad names are done, we don’t need any more Elsies and Archies.
It will be Nan and Grampy names now, Barry, Martin, Pauline, Carol.

Deadringer · 05/07/2023 11:03

My lovely nephew is called Barry, it's his mums maiden name, I don't see anything wrong with it at all.

JauntyJinty · 05/07/2023 11:03

It's just the way it goes though isn't it?

I rememeber about 10 years ago poeple strarted calling their children Archie and Molly or Elsie and they seemed very old fasioned to me, now they seem normal. I think it mostly comes about from people naming their children after their grandparents (no idea if that's the case for Megan Trainor though!)

We'll see a return of the Garys soon, you mark my words!

Iwasafool · 05/07/2023 10:53

When I had my first, over 50 years ago, one mum was hysterical and her husband had to be asked to leave the ward. We were all agog at what was going on. Turned out her husband had registered the baby and given him the name Alfie. We were all so sympathetic at a child being given such an awful oldfashioned name.

I know quite a few little Alfies now and no one seems to find it horrific any more.

“Big bad Barry”!!

I can hear Mr Elf saying it now 😁Loved LOVED Ben and Holly.

Barry is a shocking name. Full stop.

And fwiw I went out with a Barry once.

Never said his name or called him when we were out in public.

newrubylane · 05/07/2023 10:48

It'll seem normal in ten years. I remember when my dad's friend named his son George when I was about ten and it sounded soooo old fashioned. Within ten years there were little Georges everywhere!
