Lilith? Thoughts please.

DH really likes the name Lilith for a girl. I like it too, but not 100%.

Apparently its more popular in the US, but not so popular in the UK.

Just after some thoughts please?

Lilith was Frasier’s ex wife.

(Niles was married to Maris, Mel and then Daphne).

I quite liked Lilith in Frasier - she was no nonsense with a cynical sense of humour.

It's a bit "Look at us! We're cool parents who have named our daughter after a demon!"

It's a big name for a child to carry - great if she grows up to be a teenage goth, but otherwise, not so great.

It's very goth OP.

Only use if you're a dark goddess worshipper and want That to be clear whenever any adult hears of your kid's name, so they might not want to have anything to do with her or her family

It's only good if you homeschool and she will only ever meet other goth parents and their children.

For some people, what it refers to is outright evil.

It’s a strong pro-feminine name as Lilith in it’s Jewish origin was only admonished by god due to her standing up for herself and refusing to obey Adam. The name has earlier origins from Mesopotamia.

This. All the demon/witch bullshit is just misogyny. It's a brilliant name and I really like it.

Neither of my children could have said it properly until they were about 10....and I have to say, I have to take a pause before I'm sure of it even now. I no longer lisp- but if I'm not careful it comes out as Lilis....

I really dislike it. It’s sonically unappealing and clunky sounding. The obvious diminutive is Lily which is dull as dishwater. And the cultural context of the names makes it seem try hard edgy.

Niles’ wife was the unseen Maris - then Daphne. Lilith was Frasier’s wife (one of them anyway). I loved her and would happily name a child after her.Grin

It's a really cool powerful strong name but you gotta be the type of person who is cool with naming your kid after a woman who is associated with the demonic in religious circles

Lillian might be close but safer if it bothers you

Love it. I have a 7-month-old named Meredith which is similar, if Frasier's wife puts you off it.
