Would you be annoyed if your best friend chose a similar baby name?

We’ve had our heart set on a baby name and become quite attached to it over the last few months, it’s probably the only name we both loved and agreed on 100%

However, my best friend just had a baby and the name they’ve chosen is coincidentally very similar, as in one letter deferent and rhymes.

think along the lines of
Daisy & Maisy
Cara & Lara
Eva & Ava
Ida & Ada
Minnie & Winnie
Lilly & Tilly

I can’t help thinking she might find it strange if we go ahead with the similar name, but feel very sad to let it go as we’ve become so used to calling bump this name in private & I feel emotional about letting it go.

Neither name is super popular.

what would you do?

Unless you have form for copying everything she does (which I’m guessing not or you wouldn’t have posted about it), then it will be fine.

DrownLoad · 28/06/2023 15:25

No it wouldn't bother me at all.

WombatBombat · 28/06/2023 15:24

To be honest there are so many Ada/Ava/Eva/Evie/Elle/Belle/Bella/Ella/Isla/Olivia/Lyla/Lilah/Lyra/Lara/Lily/Millie/Mia/Mila/Amelia/Amelie/Emily/Emma/Maisie/Maeve’s that I think she’d be a bit of a dick to say anything.

It’s not the same name so I would just stick with whatever name you’d chosen

babysharkdoodoodedoodedoo · 28/06/2023 15:16

I would LOVE it but then it’s the kind of sad thing me and my best friend would do on purpose 😂 I mean, she’s a best friend! Why would she be annoyed?

somethingslastforever · 28/06/2023 14:28

I would also stick with the name you love.

GrinAndVomit · 28/06/2023 14:28

I wouldn’t mind that at all.

SirVixofVixHall · 28/06/2023 14:26

I would stay with the name you love.
