Rosa or Eliza?

Not long left until baby girl arrives.
Middle name will be Joy after a family member, so what do people think of:

Rosa Joy
Eliza Joy

Single syllable surname.

another one who loves both! My DD’s have Elizabeth and Rosa as middle names.

I actually like the flow of Rosa Joy! If you’re ever saying a full name, you’re not usually pronouncing it like a hyphened name, there’s usually a pause (eg at a wedding or graduation) so it’d be more like Rosa. Joy. Smith with to me eliminates the whole rows of joy thing ?!

Eliza

Buttercup2023 · 02/07/2023 10:44

Thank you everyone! I am super happy with the fact most people seem to like both Rosa and Eliza! I can't seem to decide, so might try them both out on her when she arrives 😍 thanks so much!

Rosa. But Eliza id quite nicet too. Not keen on Joy. But nothing wrong with it.

OopsieeDaisy · 01/07/2023 23:00

I love the name Rosa but agree with a pp that it sounds like I’m saying ‘rows of joy’.
Not hugely keen on Eliza but it does go well with Joy.

Hankthehonk · 01/07/2023 07:33

My daughter is Rosa so it's obviously my favourite name! Joy was on our list as well but we got strong negative feedback about it.
It's refreshing to see someone who shares my views on middle names - I think they should have meaning (usually for family) and agree they won't often be said. To me it's much less important that middle names "flow" so long as they're meaningful. Our daughter is Rosa Helen. All that being said, I think Rosa Joy is nice!

Rosa

Eliza

Bit less popular than the Rose names

I prefer Rosa but I think Eliza Joy sounds better.

I agree, but take OP's point that not often said together.

RuthW · 29/06/2023 19:17

That's a very difficult one. Both lovely names.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 29/06/2023 18:52

I wouldn’t even consider how the first and middle name go together unless there was an obvious issue with it sounding like a rude word or something. Like you say they won’t be said together. What’s important is the name they’ll be called day to day.

I really like both Rosa and Eliza. I’d choose Eliza.

verabarbleen · 29/06/2023 17:43

I think if it's just a middle name then go with Rosa, as you say people won't always be saying it out loud but if it's one name as in Rosa-Joy then go with Eliza 😊 but I prefer Rosa as a name

salamithumbs · 29/06/2023 15:39

I prefer Rosa, although I do think Eliza sounds better paired with Joy but as you say, people don't often use their full name! I think Rosa just sounds a bit fresher... there's so many E names at the moment like Ella, Ellie, Eleanor etc and Eliza just blends in..also has a similar sound to names like Lila, Lyra, Isla!

Coffeeandcakemum · 28/06/2023 13:52

Rosa

uncomfortablydumb53 · 28/06/2023 13:49

Both lovely but Eliza( just) I think

Hazelnuttella · 28/06/2023 13:45

Both lovely.
Joy is a lovely middle name too - she brings you joy, she doesn’t need to be a joy all the time!

marshmallowfinder · 28/06/2023 13:43

Rosa. My friend's daughter is called Eliza and it just constantly gets shortened to Liza which sounds very dated.

MrsO3 · 28/06/2023 13:43

Eliza

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 28/06/2023 13:28

When I say Rosa joy it sounds like I am saying rows of joy. So based on that I would say Eliza I don’t necessarily think it’s a nicer name.

KirstenBlest · 28/06/2023 12:54

Rosa. Not keen on Eliza. S
Middle names aren't used much.
Does Rosa Surname look and sound ok?

I really like them both! Sorry, no help.

It is actually really helpful! The last time I posted with a list of completely different names, they got awful feedback 🤣 I had to rethink everything! So it is nice to know both names seem like a good choice!

I have an Elizabeth Joy and my other daughter has Rosa as a middle name. So great names! Eliza Joy works best I think.

I wouldn't have chosen Joy after having had and experienced the child 😂 she is not always a Joy. My first born. But it is a lovely name.

😆 I was reluctant to choose a virtue name as it does feel like a lot for the child to live up to! I don't think anyone is a Joy all the time haha!! Hopefully it won't be too much pressure for her 🙈 thank you though, I may rethink it, but I know it will make one of our parents very happy to use it too, tricky!

Buttercup2023 · 28/06/2023 12:30

That's interesting a couple of you do not think Rosa goes with Joy. I don't think I am overly worried about that as it is not often people say their whole name, I know I don't, most people would have no idea what my middle name is. We are using Joy as a nod to a grandparent.
