Danny, for a baby boy? What do we think? The name has lots of personal meaning for both me and my partner.

Agree with Daniel on the BC and call him Danny day-to-day. Daniel gives him more options as he grows up

Roselilly36 · 03/07/2023 19:09

Love Daniel, and Dan, not keen in Danny tbh.

Summerscoming23 · 03/07/2023 18:25

I know a few Danny's who are christened Danny,on their birth certificate etc

wingsofabird · 03/07/2023 18:22

A great name
one of my favourites

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 03/07/2023 11:01

Daniel, please, known as Danny. Otherwise lovely.

Purplecatshopaholic · 03/07/2023 09:56

We have a Danny - not Daniel - in my close family. Love it. He’s Danny or sometimes Dan.

user1492757084 · 03/07/2023 08:31

Daniel is handsome and Dan and Danny are fine nick names.
I would never put Danny on the BC as it gives your son little choice to be formal should he wish to be.

peaceinourtime · 03/07/2023 07:32

You can go with Danny or any shortening on the birth certificate. You don't have necessary name a child using a full name if you don't intent to use it as actual name.

It feels quite dated. I would put Danny in the same bracket as Robbie, Gary, Kev, Tony and Scott.

Daniel is nice, classic.

This.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 01/07/2023 19:19

Love Daniel. Danny as a possible nn, not a full name.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 24/06/2023 15:07

Lovely name Daniel is my DS2 middle name and I'd put that on the BC

Yes

Spanielsarepainless · 24/06/2023 13:10

Daniel is better, then he can choose whether he shortens it or not. You are choosing a name not just for a baby but, hopefully, an adult.

continentallentil · 24/06/2023 13:07

Short for Daniel then yes, v nice

Not as a full name

CC222 · 24/06/2023 11:30

Danny is my favourite male name! I even like it for a girl too..

IsThePopeCatholic · 24/06/2023 10:34

Love Daniel. But Danny only as a nn.

KirstenBlest · 24/06/2023 10:27

Dan is a biblical name, as is Daniel. I'd put Daniel on the BC.
Dan, Danny and Daniel are all fine.

gogomoto · 24/06/2023 08:01

Daniel is far better. My cousins kid is called Danny, he hates he has a silly proper name and goes by Dan.

Figgygal · 24/06/2023 07:58

I have a Daniel on paper hes been called Danny since day 1 though.
He can choose any variation of Daniel, Dan, Danny when he's older up to him

sakuramiyagi · 24/06/2023 07:55

My little boy is Daniel on his birth certificate. But we have always called him Danny (named after my Papa Danny), the name is very special to my family.

I don't think it sounds like an old name at all. Using Daniel on his birth cert was deliberate to give him options in later life.

Stygimoloch · 24/06/2023 07:44

Love Daniel, Dan, Danny. Timeless.

There’s nothing wrong with putting Danny on birth certificate if that’s going to be his name. It’s lovely.

Oldermum84 · 24/06/2023 07:03

Love it. Don't feel pressured into Daniel of you prefer and are going to call him Danny.

shoopshoopdedoo · 24/06/2023 06:03

Love it! As other have said, I’d also use Daniel and have Danny as a nickname.

Theoldwoman · 24/06/2023 05:50

Daniel is lovely. Not Danny alone though.

VerbenaGirl · 24/06/2023 05:44

I like it.
