Just that really - if you hear Casey, do you think boy or girl?

I know the name is unisex, just wondered about first impressions.

Girl, since the only Casey I've ever met was a girl, and also it reminds me of Casey Anthony. Plus it sounds kind of girly I think, because of Stacey, Tracy, Lacey, Cassie etc..
But mainly to me it sounds like a surname- I know three families called Casey!

But have had girls so either.

Boomboom22 · 22/06/2023 23:47

Either but usually boy as a teacher.

NBLarsen · 22/06/2023 23:44

I think it can be either equally boy or girl, but if I had to only pick one, I'd say it's a boy's name.

BarelyLiterate · 22/06/2023 23:43

i think of Casey as an American boy’s name, eg Casey Jones, Casey Affleck.

In Britain, I have heard it used for girls, but it sounds chavvy. Same sort of vibe as Madison.

FlippersDippers · 22/06/2023 23:38

Boy - because I know one.

SkyAboveSoBlue · 22/06/2023 23:32

Boy. It depends where you are from I suppose.

YerAWizardHarry · 22/06/2023 23:31

If I heard the name said aloud I’d think girl but if I saw it written down and spelt Casey I’d think boy

Depends where you live. Definitely a boy name & spelling when I lived in Las Vegas.

NeverendingCircus · 22/06/2023 23:21

Generally boy, but it is unisex.

Anniissa · 22/06/2023 23:21

Known a few Casey’s - all boys - so for me I guess boy.

Whichwhatnow · 22/06/2023 23:20

My cousin actually has a son called Casey so it should make me think boy. When it's written down I assume boy. But when just said out loud I still think girl! I think it's just a bit close to Stacy/Macy/Marcy/Kayleigh etc
