Cecily for me

Sienna

Cecilia or Cicely

nickname CeCe

grievinggirlneedsadvice · 22/06/2023 17:40

I like Cecily or Cecelia/Cecilia
As for other suggestions: I think Cassia is nice

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 22/06/2023 17:36

Cecilia if spelt this classic way is so lovely looking and lyrical sounding and so would my top pick I think.

But Shakespearean Celia would be my very close second choice - a great match with Toby (which was also used by Shakespeare, although not quite a flattering a character!), plus Celia has a lovely meaning and no spelling issues as a bonus.

Nothing wrong with Cecily either, I just don't like it as much as the other two. Please don't use Sisley though! Grin

Cecily but spelt Cecilie

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 22/06/2023 03:39

Cecilia with an i. That's the original spelling. Cecelia just seems to be for the people easily confused that Cece can come from Cecilia.

Surname would be Froud and sibling is a Toby

Cecily for me - I really wanted it for my second DD but husband vetoed it last minute!

Isn’t that Preseli?

Must be, surely.

I like Celia or (and I know this isn’t one of your options) Cicely. A friend has a daughter named Selena which I think is similar and also lovely.

Cecilia is my favourite, but think it also depends on middle names surnames and sibling names.

Surname would be Froud and sibling is a Toby

I would go with Cicilia which isn't quite on the list but close :)

My mothers name is Precelly(after the Welsh mountains) and Celly for short.
A really beautiful, unique name.

Isn’t that Preseli?

adriftabroad · 21/06/2023 16:54

Cecilia (spelt properly)

She can be Cecie, C, whatever diminutive you want. Unusual but known and sounds classy and pretty in all European countries. Especially ones with Saints. Santa Cecilia is November (I think)

Viviennemary · 21/06/2023 16:44

I googled Sisley. Its a medieval English variant of the name Cecily or Cicely. And I thought it was some modern made up name. Still dont like it though.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 21/06/2023 15:31

I would choose Cecily personally
Don't like Sisley, sorry

Loquebanter · 21/06/2023 15:31

Goodness knows what Sisley is supposed to be - but Cecilia (NB spelling) and Cecily are both lovely.

TheMurderousGoose · 21/06/2023 15:30

None of them.

DappledOliveGroves · 21/06/2023 15:29

We have a Cecilia. It's hit and miss as to whether anyone spells her name correctly, however!

2bazookas · 21/06/2023 15:27

I have a friend Cecily, pronounced Sissilee.

Purpleboat · 21/06/2023 15:24

Cecilia is my favourite, but think it also depends on middle names surnames and sibling names.

itsmellslikepopcarn · 21/06/2023 15:19

Cecelia!
