Could be Nicolas or straight Nico. Mainly worried about posh/pretentious…

I'd think you were Italian or Vietnamese just because of the Nico's I know. I think it's a lovely name although I wouldn't use it if I had a very regional northern accent.

SiobhanSharpe · 08/06/2023 17:32

Not as cool as you might think. Nick and Nicholas are classic but not over-used at all.

Comedycook · 08/06/2023 17:31

Rich European

CherieBabySpliffUp · 08/06/2023 17:30

I would assume there was an Italian connection.

BarelyLiterate · 08/06/2023 17:28

I would assume the parents were F1 fans. Nico Rosberg & Nico Hulkenberg are German F1 drivers.

lankyhanky · 08/06/2023 17:27

I would think it's a name that is becoming very popular in the last year for some reason. I know it for girls and boys but the girl has constantly been mistaken for a boy as a result.

And yes my second though would be are you Italian? If not you are just trying to be edgy.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 08/06/2023 17:24

Nicholas is a great name. If you're English and pronouncing it Neeko I would briefly wonder if he was called after someone and that was why.

If you're Irish and pronouncing it Nicko, that definitely would not be considered posh or pretentious.

I would assume a girl, despite the -o ending, because of the Velvet Underground & Nico.

Yirk · 08/06/2023 17:24

Another vote for velvet underground.

I’d think you were italian

drpet49 · 08/06/2023 17:22

That you were Italian

Redshoeblueshoe · 08/06/2023 17:21

It would make me think that someone loved Velvet Underground

BlueAndGreenStripes · 08/06/2023 17:21

I think it’s better as a nickname, in some accents (like mine) it would sound like a nickname rather than posh.

TheGirlWhoLived · 08/06/2023 17:19

At the moment Percy Jackson because it’s all my dd’s are interested in! Considering there is a massive Disney plus thing coming out soon this might be a factor to consider?

I would also assume of Italian heritage if straight Nico. I don’t really love Nicholas though tbh
