Girls baby names that are "cool, but not Americanised"

Hello

So we are having a surprise born august.
We have decided a boys name but cannot decide a girls name.
I like Nina but DH has vetoed
He likes Marnie I have vetoed on the ground it's a bit American.
We are looking for something shortish, just a bit hip and cool but not to out there. Even something a bit "surfery".
Any suggestions welcome!

I recently heard the name Margo on a little girl. I thought unusual but not too out there!

Margot is REALLY common round here!

I love Nia

Other Welsh names that maybe have the vibe you want:

Carys or Cerys
Catrin
Mabli
Anwen
Eira
Manon
Seren
Iola
Alys

Alys is also lovely, I think you know my taste better than I do 😂

It’s been popular for years! It’s always mentioned on here.

I like this also but my close friend has just used it seems to be going up in popularity

I live in the San Joaquin Valley of California, @tax19.
I know two Nina’s from my very small home town. What are the odds?
I think it’s a lovely name.
The USA is a very large place - I wish you the best of luck finding a name with no association to us.
I mean that sincerely.
Is there a particular country with names you’d like an association? Like Greece, for example, or Italy or France?
You could google “Greek names for girls.” There’s some sites that will not only give you names, but they’ll tell you their meanings.

And Congratulations. May you have a heve both a healthy birth and a healthy baby.

I found this - it has a 🔍 so you can search for just about an endless amount of particular names. Hope it helps 👇

Thank you @DreamTheMoors
I didn't mean to sound like I dislike any names from America (not the case at all, just seems "short cool surfer" names tend to be more American style and I was just worried as a British couple from wales maybe we couldn't quite pull it off. We both have very traditional English names.
We both surf so that was why I suggested "surfery" but to be honest I think a child develops into their name and any interests they have you associate with their names so I'm possibly over thinking it all.
Some wonderful suggestions on here, thank you mumsnet. Thank you for the link I will be looking into it, I like the suggestion of Dora. I think once like a name like I really like Nina you find it hard to find an alternative!
Thank you for all the suggestions. :)
