We are still at the beginning of this journey, but for a boy we've already settled on Max. The only thing we are unsure about is whether to put Max or Maximilian on the birth certificate. What do you think?

This is our list for girls:

Chloe
Sadhbh
Elora
Pearl
May
Hope
Jade
Lily
Jane

Elora is pretty the rest are boring IMO.
id go with just Max but again it’s boring.

EinyLinky · 02/09/2023 09:16

Max

Lily

Mumofgirls2017 · 02/09/2023 07:43

I’d put Magnus nn max!

like pearl from your girls list

Birdiboo · 02/09/2023 07:23

I love Chloe 💕 so many nice nickname options too

I would probably just go for Max on BC

Yes2432 · 02/09/2023 06:14

what

JamSandle · 04/06/2023 23:49

Chloe and Elora

JimJamJo · 04/06/2023 22:36

I like Maxim best as a longer name for Max.
Jane is my favourite from your girls' names.

ReadtheReviews · 03/06/2023 19:45

Or Maximus?
Like Jane and Lily from your list.

DipperandMabel · 03/06/2023 19:35

I think Maximus is cool I would go with that name for Max.

I like Chloe or Jane x

ourflagmeansdeath · 03/06/2023 16:29

Just Max, Maximilian is way too long for no reason if you're just going to call him Max anyway.

Chloe - It's not my taste, quite plain
Sadhbh - Not for me
Elora - It's fairly pretty, I know an Aloura too which I like
Pearl - I like it for a middle name but doesn't work as a first name to me
May - It sounds unfinished and to me wouldn't work at all
Hope - I think it's nice enough
Jade - Nice enough just not what I'd go for
Lily - Pretty but quite popular which could be an issue
Jane - I think it's nice actually

I think Elora would be my favourite.

CurlewKate · 02/06/2023 20:15

I love Jane. So unusual but so simple and classic.

So do I. It's such a cool, elegant name and so underused.

SkyeBlue28 · 02/06/2023 23:52

I would go with Max in the birth cert.
my choice from your girls names would be Chloe

Mumofgirls2017 · 02/06/2023 23:47

Pearl. Either is reasonable re Max

fairycupcakes · 02/06/2023 23:45

Maxwell or Maximus nn Max.

Chloe, Hope, Lily or Jane of your girls list.

UsingChangeofName · 02/06/2023 23:20

Chloe and Jane are okay.
I don't like any of the others on your list.

TrustPenguins · 02/06/2023 22:23

Maxwell or Maximus.

And Chloe or Lily for a girl.

Ringaroundtheroses · 02/06/2023 22:17

Maxim is so lovely IMO.
The movie Booksmart made me love the name Hope! Lara and Elodie share similarities with the names on your list and are nice.

sawandnotseen · 02/06/2023 21:18

My friend has a Maximilian and was determined that he would always be called his full name...... all went wrong when he was about 8! He's been Max since then. He's 18 now and will not be called Maximilian.
Re girls names - Pearl without a doubt

Ginola2345 · 02/06/2023 21:07

Definitely go for Max on birth certificate.

For a girl I like Jane classic and understated or Hope.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 02/06/2023 20:50

Maximilian
Jane

Socksey · 02/06/2023 20:39

Btw that's the closest I can get in English... it's slightly different in Irish

Socksey · 02/06/2023 20:37

Please tell me you're pronouncing Sadhbh ... one of my favourite names.... as Sigh -ve
Max is lovely... especially if it's short for something, such as Maxim ... etc

cassiatwenty · 02/06/2023 20:25

CurlewKate · 02/06/2023 20:15

I love Jane. So unusual but so simple and classic.

I think so too

FayCarew · 02/06/2023 20:22

Chloe - massively overused in the 1990s
Sadhbh - only if Irish
Elora - dreadful. Laura is nice
Pearl - not keen
May - don't like
Hope - hopeless
Jade - jaded
Lily - overused
Jane - lovely

continentallentil · 02/06/2023 20:21

Maximilian or Maximus maybe. Maxwell makes me think of the coffee.

I like Jane best of your girl names - it’s due a revival

Chloe - nice enough, quite popular
Sadhbh - is this said Sive? If so the no
Elora - too many El names / she’ll be one of many Ellies (also makes me think of an Italian person saying Now!)
Pearl - OK
May - way overdone, along with Maya
Hope - quite like, getting popular
Jade - too harsh
Lily - way overdone and a bit wet
Jane - very nice
