Having twins and we have the girl's name picked but can't think of one for the boy

I am 23+2 with twins; a boy and a girl. We have our baby girl's name picked, she'll be called Poppy. But we cannot agree on a boy's name. His middle name will be Jack regardless, but can't think of a first name. Jack sadly isn't an option for his first name as my nephew is named that.

We liked Oliver but have gone off it.
We have mentioned Freddie briefly but neither of us love it. Same with Teddy.

Any suggestions are welcome 😊

My children have siblings Poppy & Joshua in their respective classes. Joshua James has a nice ring, and gives you the potential for a JJ nickname.

@Ellmau, I know that Jack and James have the same meaning, but Jack was traditionally a nn for John not James.

I know, but James Jack is just too many Js :)

verabarbleen · 05/06/2023 17:46

Oh I was about to say jack would be perfect but then realised that would be the middle name!
Maybe Ben?

TJsAunt · 05/06/2023 13:23

we know a family with a Poppy and Freddie!

Other names they considered for Freddie were Archie and Barney. Think Poppy would have been Noah - don't know if any of those work?

My cousin used the same name as my sons. She asked permission to use it. I totally didn’t mind. She would use his first and second names together to not get boys mixed up so you could use something like Jack James. Jack James cooed today oh and Jack James is on solids!!! Or shorten it to JJ. Could use the name Jaxson and shorten it to Jax for family. So choices are poppy and Jack James or JJ. Poppy and Jaxson.

How about Jake? Jacob, Jackson, Jesse or James. Albie is nice and close to Arthur? I have 4 boys and naming the youngest was difficult. I'm also a twin Mummy too which makes it more tricky!

Don't go with Teddy, he'll be Ted when he is older, lots of things shorten to Ted, it'll be really boring and samey.

Good luck 👍

Fraaahnces · 04/06/2023 16:05

Jacques? Mack?

Scottie13 · 04/06/2023 16:01

What about Zac instead of Jack? I’ve got friends who have done that. But also have cousins who both have the same name. They don’t live near each other so won’t go to school together. If you want to use Jack then I don’t see an issue with it. As someone else said, no-one owns a name. The kids won’t be the same age and should feel happy you love the name so much xx

Jaxon546 · 04/06/2023 15:51

I’d use Jack it’s a classic, no one owns a name. We have two Jacks in our family who are cousins, not even a family name just a name that both siblings liked so they picked. Nothing has ever been said.
