Hello,

We are struggling to decide on a boy's name. I like old-fashioned baby names...but they have to feel fresh and not too old-man if you know what I mean.

Big sister is called Agnes. Which one of these baby boy names do you think go with her name?

Otto
August
Edmund (Eddie)
Rufus
Bernhard (Barney)
Timothy (Timo)
^^

Rocco (if you have any Italian heritage)
Dominic
Ned (love this, who cares if some people in Scotland claim it means non educated delinquent), its stoutly middle class where I'm from.
Dennis
Patrick
James
Ambrose

Might want to re read the spelling of Richard then if you don't like 'hard' in the spelling 😂😉

Haha, yes - but Richard is more of a CH sound (though it does also suffer from the NN Dick)..

Wilbur or Edwin. I do love Gus as a nn but can't stand Augustus.

Don't you think of the fat mouse from Cinderella?

nowtherearethree · 25/05/2023 22:11

I love the name Henry

They're all OK apart from Bernhard. I'd avoid any names with 'hard' in them.

Suggestion:
Clement
Richard
Ambrose
Ivo

Otto would be my first choice.

Have you considered Ned instead of Eddie (Edward)? I love it.

Also like Raef.

I like Otto, August (Gus) and Rufus. But I think Otto goes best with Agnes. The other two don't quite sound right.

Other suggestions

Vincent
Patrick
Frank
Stanley
Ralph
Julian

thank you! I adore Patrick and Frank and Ralph are nice too! 😍

Edmund

Otto is trendy and I know several. It would kind of cheapen the classiness of Agnes. August is too similar.

Thanks! 😄Agree that Otto is trendy, and August is a bit too similar yes.
A few have suggested Edgar and I actually quite like it! It's almost a bit stronger and quirkier than Edmund, even though I really like both. Agnes & Edgar sound cool!

I love old poncey names. If I was braver I would have had:

Victor
Edgar
Ambrose
Lysander

😃I actually really like Edgar...it almost has more edge to it than Edmund! Thanks for the suggestions!
