So when I was pregnant with DS 5 years ago, we were certain we'd use the name Sienna if it were a girl. As he was a boy, we chose Oliver. We love this name but it is SO popular. I'm now expecting a girl and Sienna is still my favourite but it is also incredibly popular; there are two in DS's class!
I might still use it, but I'd ideally want something a bit less common.

What more unusual names have similar vibes?
My DH suggested Sierra, but I'm not sold on it.

I like Savannah but I can't think of any nice nicknames (Sienna would be CeCe for short).

@Pahpahpotato I agree Re the car, to be honest, I've never heard of them and they're dying out now so this doesn't put me off.

The general love for Sienna on this thread is encouraging, even if it's popular. I also love some of the alternatives suggested so thanks all!

I think, honestly, if you both really love sienna then use sienna. Altho I suppose if the popularity mars it, that’s also fair enough!
i expect these have already been suggested, but my mind went to;
Serena, Seren, Sennen (as in the Cornish beach!), Sasha, Sierra (I don’t mind the car association… plus they’re old as fuck now so..) Morwenna and Lowenna.

It’s an adjective! Derived from Sixtus, as Pope Sixtus IV built the chapel. It’s like using Elizabethan or Victorian as a name, rather strange.

Not sure how I know this but Sylvester Stallone has a daughter called Sistine. I can imagine Italian Americans from New Jersey liking Sistine as a name,..

Haha, I know a little Sienna with a nickname CeCe (although maybe they would write it as SiSi). I don't think the link is that tenuous!

I appreciate the suggestions, I think DH has gotten fed up of name discussions by now.

He has vetoed Vienna but we both like Farrah!

The only Sienna I know is CeCe.

Just go with what you love. You could pick a less common, less loved name and that ends up blowing up in popularity.

Sahara is pretty and different. Similar vibes to Zara, which I like too. A contender!

If you like Sienna & Savannah, how about Sahara? DS4 has a friend called that.

I know an Anastasia nn Sisi.

Sienna does seem very popular at the moment, but that doesn’t necessarily mean your daughter will necessarily have loads in her class. I’ve had a class with two Yasmins before, another with two Annas and twice known two Davids in the same class, none of which I’d consider very popular names.

I love the name Sienna - this was also on my girls list but we chose something different for DD

Id say go for something you love rather than choosing something because it’s less popular. DD has 2 other friends in her class with the same name as her and it doesn’t bother her or me. I know it’s a good solid proper name that I also happen to love. She also happens to suit it perfectly!
