People often mention it on here as a suggestion but is it too boring and middle aged?

It is a name I love. It reminds me of Julia Roberts. Very glam and strong.

Pinkyhere · 23/05/2023 21:09

We have friends with Italian heritage who spell it Giulia.
I love it spelt this way. Although it may be a pain for her to constantly correct people
Our friend's daughter has bags of confidence and is not shy to tell people.

There are 3 in my dds preschool class of 26 so maybe it's already been revived

DuchessOfSausage · 21/05/2023 11:08

Jill is lovely, but don't like Gillian (although I know some nice ones)
Juliana and Julietta are too much, and like Juliette will be Julie.

Giulia will get misspelt as Julia, Gulia and Guilia.

ididntknowthat11 · 21/05/2023 11:04

I like Julia but feel it has always been fairly popular.

Julie and also Jill I really like which could be due a revival. I know of one of each born within the last three years.

I also know a young Julietta, which I find too flowery for my tastes.

Luredbyapomegranate · 21/05/2023 11:00

Yes, Juliet seems to be getting popular, but I actually prefer Julia.

DuchessOfSausage · 21/05/2023 10:56

I wasn't aware that it had gone away. Juliet it nice but I dislike the way that some say it as Julie-Ette. Juliette is only ok if you 're french IMO. Giulia is only ok if italian.

TheOtherHotstepper · 21/05/2023 09:36

We've got one. Definitely a classic name.

DorritLittle · 21/05/2023 09:35

I like it. And Julie/Juliet

Smashingwatermelons · 21/05/2023 09:31

Julia is lovely, and I also like Yulia & Juliet

Muu · 21/05/2023 09:28

I want to call my next one Julia!

Soproudoflionesses · 21/05/2023 09:16

Love it and would tick the ages well box.

barbarahunter · 21/05/2023 08:20

It's a pretty name

Whenwillglorioussummercome · 21/05/2023 08:19

Julia is a gorgeous name and I know a small one well who always gets compliments on it. Strong, simple and classic.

SuperGinger · 21/05/2023 08:19

Great name so is Julian

IHeartGeneHunt · 21/05/2023 08:17

I love Julia. I very nearly called DD Julia but she didn't look anything like one!

Amdone123 · 21/05/2023 08:11

I love it, too.
I especially like the way it's spelt in Italian - Giulia.
Juliet is lovely too.

tatteddear · 21/05/2023 08:08

Love it

Camillasfagwrinkles · 21/05/2023 08:02

Beautiful with a one syllable surname like 'Scott' for example. Too much with a multi syllable surname.

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 21/05/2023 07:51

I marginally prefer Julie but Julia is beautiful too.

I know a few of different ages, it doesn't really seem to date.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 21/05/2023 07:17

Like another pp said I’m not sure it was ever popular enough to need a revival. It’s not dated or tied to a decade. I don’t know about rest of the UK but in Scotland the year with the highest number Julia in the last 50 years was in 2011 so reasonable recently.

Squirrelsnut · 21/05/2023 07:02

It's beautiful. Elegant and not cutesy.

Willmafrockfit · 21/05/2023 07:01

i think its lovely

user1492757084 · 21/05/2023 06:34

Julia is strong, feminine and sounds great with many other names.

mastertomsmum · 20/05/2023 22:49

I like it 👍🏼I don’t feel the same about Julie though, too much the 60s era. It’s much prettier than the ‘old ladies from my childhood in the 1970s’ names that have been a thing recently - ie Enid, Alma, Esme, Flo, Vera
