I like it and rhymes with my surname.

Your thoughts?

Tegan is Welsh and the pronunciation we would use (there are 2 correct pronunciations) would be tay-gan. Teagan is Irish and pronounced tee-gan.

I prefer the Irish pronunciation but welsh spelling

It’s not an Irish name in any spelling or pronunciation, though. That’s one of those made-up US baby name site ‘facts’.

ourflagmeansdeath · 15/05/2023 15:17

Okay then if it sounds good and you love the name go for it 😊

Freysimo · 15/05/2023 14:52

Tegan was a Dr Who companion in the early 80s, if you're a fan.

FluffMagnet · 15/05/2023 14:50

Thanks to Brexit all I can think is TEGAN DELETE THIS FFS

I hadn't realised it was popular in Australia, that's quite random isn't it...or does it have some origin other than welsh?

I also prefer the spelling Tegan, but possibly just because that's what I'm used to.

So I think my granddad once said that he choose his children's names based on what sounded nice when put together.

I've got an unusual last name and would often be nicknamed that.

Unfortunately i can't write it online.

I like the name Tegan that I don't think anyones opinion will change my mind lol. But I'm surprised such a negative opinion - I've only heard it once in this country.

If you like it and your surname doesn't rhyme with it then go ahead and use it

sillyonehetpes · 15/05/2023 14:04

No. It sounds good.

?????

No my last name had one syllable

So it doesn’t rhyme with your surname?

Luredbyapomegranate · 15/05/2023 13:58

You mean like Tegan Peg or Keg or something?

In which case no, clearly that’s rubbish

musixa · 15/05/2023 13:48

sillyonehetpes · 15/05/2023 12:31

I was wondering why? I don't know anyone apart from Aussies that use the name

It has a harsh sound to me, and it sounds more like a surname than a first name.

sillyonehetpes · 15/05/2023 13:41

ourflagmeansdeath · 15/05/2023 13:32

I like Teagan but I'd definitely consider if pairing it with your surname sounds too silly. If you think it sounds good and woild suit an adult as well then go for it

Do you know what rhyming means?

Also, Teagan is hideous and dated. Sorry.

Oh fab! I got some reason didn't know that spelling existed

This spelling is the Welsh word for Toy.

Teagan is probably used in Wales more than England but it's not an Aussie name in origin.

Coronationstation · 15/05/2023 12:58

e.g. Teagan Bann?
It's an awful name regardless of what it rhymes with and also makes me think of VW SUVs!

TallulahBetty · 15/05/2023 12:56

Teagan Keegan
Teagan Regan
Teagan... Egan?

Candymay · 15/05/2023 12:55
