Might as well call him Tarquin and pre-empt an email to the school anti-bullying lead.

PurpleReindeer2 · 12/05/2023 09:00

It's a no from me. There are much better names you could choose.

ComeTheFuckOnBridgett · 12/05/2023 08:37

Makes me think of crispy bacon.

Camillasfagwrinkles · 12/05/2023 08:35

Keir is a nice name.

Camillasfagwrinkles · 12/05/2023 08:34

Insufferable. Very stereotypically posh.

HumanBurrito · 11/05/2023 21:33

I was at school with a Crispin who was horribly, horribly bullied so it's a no from me.

AliceMcK · 11/05/2023 19:31

Makes me think of Crispin Bonham-Carter, loved him as Mr Bingley in Pride and Prejudice. I have always liked it as a name but wouldn’t be something I’d use personally.

Rice crispies.

Prefer Christian, Casper or Caspian

Casper makes me think of Casper the friendly ghost.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/05/2023 18:30

One at school (not a posh school and no one teased him)

There was one at my (not at all posh) school, not in my class so I don't know if he got teased or not. Surname was Cockman ... probably not the best combination.

Apart from that, 'Crispin' just brings the rousing St Crispin's Day speech to mind, which isn't a bad association.

Lol at the similar threads associated with this one 😂

I used to work with a Crispin - a lovely guy and extremely posh. It's not to my taste though

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 11/05/2023 18:17

mintich · 11/05/2023 18:16

@savemefrommyboobs you mean like Crispin Blunt MP??
Crispin and Cosmo are completely different to the other names you've mentioned

soundsys · 10/05/2023 22:47

I like it.

My 3 year old has a doll called Crispin. Short for Rice Crispin...

Luredbyapomegranate · 10/05/2023 22:41

I have heard worse but you’d do better with Casper or Corin or something

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 10/05/2023 22:09

I love it and considered it for my boys. They are aware of this and loudly laugh about Crisp Bin and how pleased they are not to be called that, sadly.

PickledScrump · 10/05/2023 21:38

I like it

Skybluepinky · 10/05/2023 20:59

Just reminds me of the advert Crisp n dry.

Please remember this is a child of limitless potential, don't inhibit them with a stupid name.

Can you imagine a judge, prime minister, MP, police officer, lawyer, astronaut called 'Apple' / 'Crispin' / 'Chardonnay' / 'Cosmo' / 'Princess'? Of course not, they'd probably have to change their name to be taken seriously!

You have run together two genres of names.

Apple and Chardonnay - things we eat/drink.

Crispin and Cosmo - established but not commonly-used names. There are a few contemporary Crispins floating about in public life and Cosmo Laing was the name of the Archbishop of Canterbury.

I loved Crispin and wanted to use it for DS2 who was born close to St Crispin’s day but DH said no.

RosaSkye · 10/05/2023 20:53

It’s not my favourite name, but I don’t think they’re fair comparisons on the previous post - it’s a very old saints name. It’s fallen out of fashion but it’s not absurd or made up

mintich · 10/05/2023 20:53

I really like it! It is posh but that's a good thing!

Spanielsarepainless · 10/05/2023 20:51

I like it. All the PPs saying about teasing, but looking at some of the outlandish and invented names people have no trouble using, Crispin is absolutely fine.

You are joking.

RaininSummer · 10/05/2023 18:37

Not unless you live in circles full of Tarquins, Rupert's etc.
