6 Islas that I know reasonably well, plus umpteen that I come across at the park etc.
Never met an Ada.

Phos · 08/05/2023 18:29

I know of one Ada (school friend's kid) who will probably be about 10 now. I don't know any other Adas and have never come across an Isla in my life.

triplechocbrownie · 08/05/2023 18:28

I don't know any Adas and have met only one Isla

evtheria · 08/05/2023 18:18

NW England here: about 10 Islas/Aylas, if not more... ages range from 16 down to toddlers. A few Ada-s, but they're part of a longer name eg Ada-Mae, Ada Rose.

phishfoodforlife · 08/05/2023 18:15

None under 3 but I know two Islas and 3 Adas aged between 5 and 12

InTheFutilityRoomEatingBiscuits · 08/05/2023 18:13

I know 14 Islas between 0-10 years and two more who are around 16.

I know 5 Ada’s and they are all under 4.

PickledScrump · 08/05/2023 18:09

2 Islas- one 5, one 15. No Ada’s but absolutely loads of Ava’s, which I think makes Ada seem more popular.

midlands

Grace204 · 08/05/2023 16:18

Lots of Islas no Adas in South West

TedLasto · 08/05/2023 15:12

my Dds nursery class - 3 year olds: 2 x Isla 1 x Ayla and 4 x Ada. I also know 3 colleagues who each have an Ada. Work in London, live in Bucks. Ada seems to be super super popular around here.

toothbrusher · 08/05/2023 15:07

Plenty of Islas. One Ada in her 90s. South Wales

gettingoldisshit · 08/05/2023 14:59

Baby names in England and Wales - Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk)

Scroll down to "Number and percentage of baby girls’ names by local authority, England and Wales, 2021"

Both are popular where I am, especially Isla.

Bear in mind that the stats only give the ones born in that year, but a school year straddles two years.
There may only be x Islas registered in my area in 2021, but the name will have been popular in other years too.

No Adas.

Absolutely loads of Islas from 17 to baby, both south coast England and in/around family in Scotland.

drpet49 · 08/05/2023 12:54

No Islas, 2 Ada/ Ayda

Theoldwoman · 08/05/2023 12:50

No Ada’s. My great grandmother born in 1880 was Ada.

I know two Isla’s. One is 16, the other is 8 months.

Littlegoth · 08/05/2023 12:47

Loads of Islas. Only one Ada, my Grandma, and she hated it. She would have been very bemused that it’s getting a revival.

Coronationstation · 08/05/2023 12:11

I know Islas who are in their 30’s, 20’s, teens, primary age and pre school age! I live in Scotland though.
I only know one Ada and she’s about 11 and lives in England. But I don’t know many under 3’s as my friends and family are mostly beyond that age of having babies and toddlers now.

ItsCalledAConversation · 08/05/2023 11:55

Lots of Islas aged 10 and 11 (I can think of at least 4), none younger than that.

No Adas, plenty of Avas.
