Rory for a girl

So what are peoples opinions on Rory for a girl? I really like it. We are struggling to agree on a girls name. My husband likes Ivy, Daisy, Lily and fern but think they are too cutesy and I want a strong but pretty name

Would Rory be a nickname or her full name? I know a few small female Rorys and the name suits them, however they are both short for Aurora. Never actually heard them be called by their full name though so I do think of them as Rory. I think it would be fine.

No. It's really boyish.

I think it's fine if it's a shortening of a girl's name, like Aurora as pp mentioned.
If it's just Rory, well, it's a boy's name. If you'd be happy to call your daughter Benjamin or Jonathan, then why not Rory. I wouldn't personally fancy being a woman called Benjamin - all that explaining to everyone, or people making assumptions about me. But if you think you'd quite like it for yourself, then I guess your daughter might also not find it really tiring. Maybe.

Rory is an Anglicisation of Gaelic Ruairidh, by the way. It means red-haired king.

Love it

Well I suppose it might be to her benefit when she's an adult and applying for jobs, having a male name that is.

Only if you’re a Gilmore Girls fan

As people will assume you are

I know an Aurora goes by Rory...
