Ellis? For a boy

So I'm pregnant with a boy after having two girls! DH and I had never agreed on a boy's name, were convinced this was another DD who would've been Margot, middle name Anne.

Alas, it's a boy and we couldn't agree. I adore Alastair but he won't budge. He thinks it's poncy. He likes names I hate such as Billy.

The closest we can get to agree is on Ellis. If you heard the name, would you assume boy or girl? I really want a traditional but not popular name. Is it a good one?? I need reassurance 😁

The only adult Ellis (male) I have encountered is a wet dish rag. Faux intellectual, faux leftie posturing liberal bum wipe of a man.

Nowt wrong with Billy. My mum's nickname was Billy, so I am biased.

We used to love Arthur, our youngest DD would've been Arthur but it's top 5 now!! I can't bring myself to use such a popular name. All the boy classics are so popular.

A friend has a daughter Ellis so to me it’s a female name.

Very different to Margot which is classic, Mayb look for a more classic name.

It's fine but El- names are very popular especially for girls, and he'll probably get called Els/Elsie by his friends.

I have one! I LOVE it just as much now as I did when I was pregnant with him.

I'd rather have Billy than Ellis.

Ellis & Elliott are my worst names.

No malice meant 🫶🏻😂
