Celyn is a masculine noun sometimes used as a name in Wales.
It's pronounced Kellin, and means Holly

Skybluepinky · 29/04/2023 15:31

How about Celyn

TrueScrumptious · 29/04/2023 14:07

Amelie is now cringey unless you are French. Celine is better but Selina or Selene are better.

MUMOF2015 · 29/04/2023 14:01

I've got an Amelie and you do need to get used to people constantly saying Amelia! Still love it though ❤️

This is not an alternative spelling. It is a different name altogether. Different meaning. Different pronunciation.

How is it pronounced differently? It sounds the same in my accent.

You're right that it has a different meaning. They both have nice meanings.

I'm really not a fan of Amelie for some reason, even though technically it should be a beautiful name. It definitely feels very overdone. Not sure what people mean about pronunciation being varied, I'm sure there's only one way? Alternative would be Amelia which I do really like.

If you like Selina or Selena then I absolutely love that plus it's really different

GroovyHedgehog · 28/04/2023 23:04

Or Cecile?

GroovyHedgehog · 28/04/2023 23:03

How about Cecily?

Love Amelie!
I would pronounce it Ammerley. How is it supposed to be pronounced? I don't speak French!

Without an r. There is no r in it.

Celine. But probably spell it Selene because of the comparison with the singer.

@bunnyrabbitsandbutterflies , more like Am eh lee

Thankyou!

Imenti · 28/04/2023 20:58

I've got an Amelie and love it. 💜 I know it's similar to Amelia / Emily but we just loved it and most people I speak to don't know any other Amelie's or haven't heard the name before.

Celine feels a bit dated, but I am biased!! Xxx

Amélie is pretty too

Stuf · 28/04/2023 20:28

Cecily

Stuf · 28/04/2023 20:27

Cecile

ourflagmeansdeath · 28/04/2023 20:24

Amelie for me! Think it's gorgeous.

Celine.

If you happen to have a French accent, Amelie is pretty. The average English person's 'Ammerly' pronuncation just isn't.

This

Congrats on the birth!

I would go with Amelie, Celine makes me think of the brand.

user1492757084 · 28/04/2023 01:10

Celine is also very beautiful so your daughter will have a great name, regardless.
Which sounds better for a grown woman with the surname?

Kokeshi123 · 28/04/2023 01:08

Celine is nice and there are SO many Amelies and similar names around.

I don't think Celine Dion is much of a thing these days.

user1492757084 · 28/04/2023 01:06

I prefer Amelie.

Do you like Camille?

Phopet · 27/04/2023 23:59

100% Celine. So pretty and unique. Amelie is really common at the moment
