no for myself

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SneezyEvie · 23/04/2023 17:17

Yes, I’ve always liked my name. It’s a classic and still used for babies today, having been in the top 50 for decades. I don’t mind that it’s popular in the slightest.

Marsyas · 23/04/2023 16:58

Definitely. I have an excellent name.

My name isn't very common, but not dated or current. I'd definitely consider using it for a girl's middle name or the male version of my name as a first name for a boy.

Same here! Wondering if it's the same name...

I'd be more likely to use it for a boy to be honest.

Thedogscollar · 23/04/2023 16:53

Yes I like my name it's not unusual or a classic but not any worse than I've seen on here.

orangeflags · 23/04/2023 15:59

No way

SirChenjins · 23/04/2023 15:45

God no! It’s a name that has been consigned to the history books, judging by the number of babies registered with the name - and rightly so

yummyscummymummy01 · 23/04/2023 15:35

Yes love my name who wouldn't want to be called Yummy?!

Robin233 · 23/04/2023 15:27

No, but my sister used it as a second name for her dd
And as a happy coincidence DIL gave it as a second for her first dd.

MyFaceIsAnAONB · 23/04/2023 15:11

No but there are lots of babies with my name at the moment :) not my taste though although I do like my name on myself, weirdly 😄

DustyLee123 · 23/04/2023 15:09

No.
As a child I always wanted to call my daughter Jennifer as I loved it so much. She isn’t Jennifer 🤣

ladygindiva · 23/04/2023 15:06

Yes, quite possibly. It's a great classic name in the Jane Austen mould. My great aunt had the same name, and it is my eldest DD and my nieces middle name.

I like my name but it feels a bit dated. I expect it'll make a comeback by the time my DC have kids.

as it'll be an "old lady" name then.

spanieleyes · 23/04/2023 14:48

No, it's a very sixties name and no one can ever spell it correctly either!

EmiliaRuusuvuori · 23/04/2023 14:39

No way, it's hideous and should not be inflicted on anybody.
It wasn't even suitable for the era I was born in, I should really be about 30-40 years older.

FayCarew · 23/04/2023 14:35

I'd use it as a middle name

TaraRhu · 23/04/2023 14:30

No it's an 80s name!

Houselamp · 23/04/2023 14:24

No, I dont mind it as a name and I think the shortening I go by would suit my daughter but its not something I would chosen- plus I have had a lifetime of The Police/put on your red light jokes and I don't want that for my children.

SallyWD · 23/04/2023 14:18

Might do. I really like it!

LilyDivine · 23/04/2023 14:16

I might have used it if I was naming a baby in the era I was born in. It is a nice name for the time.

I also think in general women are conditioned to see their names as dated and unfashionable whereas men are more likely to want to pass their own names on to sons.

RuthW · 23/04/2023 10:49

Absolutely not. It's awful.

Awrite · 23/04/2023 09:15

No, it will be a while yet before my name makes a comeback.

I'd use my sister's though ...

ThomasinaLivesHere · 23/04/2023 09:13

I like my name but unfortunately it’s very much tied to a few decades as was so popular so I wouldn’t. I think it will come back but too early for that at the moment with my children.

DorritLittle · 23/04/2023 08:39

midsomermurderess · 23/04/2023 08:35

It has in recent years become enormously popular, in a number of variation, from my knowing no one my age with my name to there being masses of them everywhere, so, regretfully, no.

Same!

I think if I wasn’t called it, I might well have considered it if millions of other people hadn’t also used it.

WimpoleHat · 23/04/2023 08:39

Do you mean if you were Margaret Rose, but everyone called you Rose, would you name your daughter Margaret? I suppose it’s no different to being Charlotte Elizabeth and using Elizabeth; you wouldn’t get any day to day confusion. If it’s a family name and one you like, then I don’t see why not.
