So a relative through marriage neice, daughter has named her child Boux. 😳😳😳Yes I know they can call they're child what they want. But there are going to be a lot pronouncing it Box.

Does little Boux have an (slightly) older brother? I think I know them in real life.

I know another child (girl) called Boux and she’s pronounced ‘Boo’.

HuggingtheHRT · 22/04/2023 09:05

That kid better grace himself for a lifetime of being called 'Borx'

user1492757084 · 22/04/2023 07:49

How does the family pronounce Boux?
Bough of a tree
Bow and arrow
Boo hoo said the owl
Boooks - books with a long vowell accent.
Box and dice
Boux rhymes with soaks

Presumably your ‘bow’ can be as in ‘to tie’ or ‘to take a’. So you say them both the same??

Boux=madness

Sorry forgot about "to take a bow". I say beau the same as to tie a bow.

Relative through marriage niece, and someone's daughter's child - beginning of every urban legend LOL

So, who’s Boux’s Bae… or Baex, even?

I haven't name changed though so not sure why that's happened.

Your name is now showing as @Somethingneedstochange78 @Somethingneedstochange

Op, does the mother of little Beaux have a name that begins with 'L'??

I have only heard of one baby with this name. I quite like it.

I know another couple that named their baby boy Rogue.

No

Boo-cs would be how I would pronounce it.

NurseCranesRolodex · 20/04/2023 16:26

Poo
Box
Book

Foundryside · 20/04/2023 16:25

Is it pronounced like Boo?

LucyWeb1 · 20/04/2023 16:19

Geneticsbunny · 20/04/2023 15:56

In my accent bow and beau sound the same... But different from boo which is how I would say boux

Same here

Whether people like the name or not, I think that offering up the names of family members up for criticism on a public forum is pretty nasty.

They aren't my family. As I said she is a relative through marriage. The mother is her neice's daughter. So they are my cousin's cousin's. But not related to me.

caringcarer · 20/04/2023 16:16

Or pronounced booze Grin

I know a Roux. Seems like anything goes.

Ontopofthesunset · 20/04/2023 15:47

But why would it be pronounced Beau or Bow? It is a French spelling, so presumably would be pronounced like a choux bun or a roux sauce- Boo rather than Shoo of course. Even in English 'ou' isn't usually 'oh - usually 'ow' (south, hound) but sometimes 'aw' (bought, fought). And I definitely think some people would say Box. Not all people are good at reading, or understanding different phonic rules, particularly those derived from different languages.

Pronounced Bow presumably, like Beau?

The oux doesn’t give you that ow/eau sound though - it gives an oo sound. So who knows - it could be anything!

Nobody with half a brain would think “box”

Itll either be pronounced Bow or Beau I would’ve thought.

Each to their own. Hope your relation isn’t on Mn, quite a nasty thing to start a thread about.
