Hello, we're having a little girl soon and me and DH are really stuck for names. We really like the name Kia but don't want to use it due to the obvious car association. Are there any names which are similar that anyone can think of please? Her sibling is Isaac 🙂

Thea is absolutely a name in its own right.

WhoHidTheCoffee · 17/04/2023 09:28

I’d also go for Leah, which I think goes well with Isaac.

curlymam · 17/04/2023 09:25

@Luredbyapomegranate @PurplePositivity We really like Thea, but I'm not too keen on the "full" versions of it. Would you say that could be used as a name on its own?

I know a Kailani (Ky'lahni). Which I think is beautiful, it's Hawaiian. The little girl I know has Hawaiian ancestry, not sure how you'd feel about using it if you have no link.

Hi 👋@curlymam

My daughter name is Kaiya

It has quite interesting meanings behind it

Including Bob Marley song connection too

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 16/04/2023 13:23

I had a Kia in my tutor group throughout her time at secondary. I don’t think she ever got any car comments.

PurplePositivity · 16/04/2023 13:16

Thea is the first name that popped into my mind.

Isaac & Thea

CombatBarbie · 16/04/2023 13:11

I have a Saskia which you could shorten to Kia easily ..... I also know a Kaiya.

Cakencookieobsessed · 16/04/2023 13:06

I remember two sisters I knew years ago called Ria and Kira. Made me think of them.

BridieConvert · 16/04/2023 13:02

Katrina
Keira
Kyra
Cora
Kiara
Kaya/Kaia

I worked in a school and there was a girl called Kia... I didn't associate it with the car at all, it was just her name!

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 16/04/2023 12:45

I'm a Kia. The car association isn't an actual thing. Very rare to be honest. What I hate is people shortening my name to 'Key' or referring to Ikea.

midsomermurderess · 16/04/2023 12:42

Cora.

CoteDOpale · 16/04/2023 12:38

iwasthewalrus · 16/04/2023 10:23

Khia?

The association with this would be worse than the car one imo!

She’d never heard the end of ‘my neck, my back, lick my…’

I like Kaia and Kaya!

Luredbyapomegranate · 16/04/2023 12:32

Issac is a name with a long history, so I think it would be nice for her to have something similar rather than something just made up

Leah is a great match for Isaac
Thea
Kiera / Ciara
Cara
Katya
Lara
Leila
Ida
Astra
Aster
Zara
Aphra
Isla
Cassia
Chiara
Carina / Karina

TheVanguardSix · 16/04/2023 11:28

Let me clarify: Nia as in (Nee-uh) because I also wrote Niah (Ny-uh) and want to differentiate between the two.

TheVanguardSix · 16/04/2023 11:27

I like Kaia

Kalia
Niah
Karla
Lyra
Maya
Zia (My friend has a Zia/Zee or Zizi they call her)
