Do you know of any baby / children Claudia’s? I don’t personally and love the name but someone did say it’s quite an older person name ….. so just wondering really

I loved the name Claudia since I read the Babysitters Club! I also liked the character from Party of Five. I met a real life Claudia a few years ago, she is Austrian and her name is pronounced Clow -dee-uh. Clow to rhyme with bow of a ship not like crow!

It’s a name I’ve always liked, don’t think I’ve met one though.

Despite liking it, I never really considered it for dd. I think it feels a bit cumbersome and doesn’t have a natural shortening but then if that’s one of your criteria it’s perfect.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 20/08/2023 15:40

Yes - in their 50s - not British born .

Valerie23 · 20/08/2023 14:40

It's a beautiful name. I know an elderly woman, a woman in her 50s woman and a woman in her late 20s and it suits all of them.

splishsplash3 · 20/08/2023 14:39

Yes, 2.

Ones 35 and the others 10.

BriocheForBreakfast · 20/08/2023 14:30

I know a Claudia. She's my niece and in her teens. I wasn't sure to begin with but it grew on me and I like it now.

Foxesandsquirrels · 20/08/2023 14:28

Yup very common in the polish community

Yes, I have and it is a fine name, quite classy. She will be called 'Claude' by her friends but that's OK, nicknames and diminutives are nice and friendly in my opinion. I have a one syllable name and always wished I'd had something that could be shortened.

A German friend of mine had a niece called 'Claudia', pronounced 'Clowdia' in Germany, and she was a lovely young woman.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 16/04/2023 22:32

Yes a 7 year old Cloud ia

Ellsxox · 16/04/2023 16:12

I know of a few but they are teenagers/adults. The youngest Claudia I know is 16.

Imabitbusyatthemoment · 16/04/2023 13:39

I know one, now early 20s. I absolutely love it and would have used it for DD but it doesn’t go with our surname at all.

jackstini · 16/04/2023 13:37

3, one 30s - Spanish, 1 40s - Italian, 1 late 50s - German

All pronounced 'cloudier' rather than 'claw-Dias'

SmartHome · 16/04/2023 13:36

My DC had one in their class, they're 22 now/year 7.

Bagofweasels · 16/04/2023 13:34

I know a baby one, it’s a beautiful name 🙂

ourflagmeansdeath · 16/04/2023 13:32

Yes she's about 13 I'd say and it suits her really nicely.

ComputerWifeKaren · 15/04/2023 00:49

I knew of some with that name spelling but pronounced CLOUD-ia. Nickname Cloudy. Much preferred that to the original.

ladydimitrescu · 15/04/2023 00:49

Absolutely love it

notangelinajolie · 15/04/2023 00:46

I knew a Claudia. 50 years ago at primary school. The boys used to call her Clumpy Claudia which wasn't nice.

CallieQ · 15/04/2023 00:41

Winkleman

Does anyone here say it as Clorrrdia? Confused

Yes. "Clord"/"Clawed" sounds the same to me? I'm guessing the poster emphasised the "r's" to differentiate from "Cloud"🤔

Beautiful name, top of my list if I'd had a girl- can never understand why it's so underused in this country. Never met any UK ones in RL (I fell in love with the name as a kid from the novel IWAV, even though that Claudia didn't have a happy ending).

SallyWD · 14/04/2023 20:25

I know only one, who's 12

JANetChick · 14/04/2023 20:07

I worked in Germany so knew lots. I don’t know any in the UK. I prefer the English language pronunciation (Clorrrd rather than the German Cloud) though. A stylish name.

CruCru · 14/04/2023 16:14

My daughter is called Claudia and she loves her name. I know of one other girl (a bit younger) who is also called Claudia.

reelcat · 13/04/2023 17:59

No but it's a lovely name!
