A friend recently named their son Torin which I thought was lovely. Bit different but not too out there.

Bambambino1 · 13/04/2023 14:54

We nearly called our DS Marlowe, but decided to make it a middle name instead. Archer is a potential middle name for the second but actually I quite like it as a first name!

Cotswoldmama · 13/04/2023 14:22

I like Auryn too

Cotswoldmama · 13/04/2023 14:22

My youngest is Eben, Ive only heard of one other in fact that's where we heard of the name! His middle name is Jago, which seems to be gaining popularity recently.

KirstenBlest · 13/04/2023 13:50

Timothy and Jeremy fit the biblical trend, and are probably not much used now.

KirstenBlest · 13/04/2023 13:48

@Goodoccasionallypoor , 55 yrs. I like the name, but it's too closely linked to one person. There were 3 Enocs registered in England & Wales in 2020, so presumably some Welsh speakers think it's OK. Strange that there should be only 3 in the time covered by darkgreeener and the 3 born in the same year. I'm picturing a reception class before long with the 3 Enocs in it.

Enoc (ENN-ock) is the Welsh spelling and I don't think it's used anywhere else.

They're still too widely used among middle aged men. Give it another 20 years..!

@Goodoccasionallypoor , darkgreener says it's been used quite a few times each year
Babies called Enoch in England & Wales since 1996 (darkgreener.com)

Interesting. It's a nice name but I assumed it was too distinctive to lose negative associations for a while yet. I suppose it has been almost 100 years!

Keirdan (Keer-dahn)
Cerrigan (Ker-ig-ahn)
Ettram/Ettran (Et-tram / Et-tran)
Enoch (Ee-nock)
Kezkal/Keskal (Kez-khal / Kess-khal)
Kaidan/Kairan (Ky-dahn / Ky-rahn)
Jameson (Jay-meh-sun)
Carrew (Karr-roo)
Erasmus (Eh-rahz-moos or Eh-rahz-muss)
Phineas (Finn-ee-ahs)

Is Enoch useable at this stage? I don't think I would.

I know LOADS of middle aged men with these names! They are definitely not unique!!

Give it another 20 years or so and they might sound 'fresh'

@MummaLeonax well they were to me they are different from common names for instance, Jamie, John, kyle, Ryan, Matthew, boys names like that. (:

Other than John, those are names that were popular over 20 years ago.

@atthebottomofthehill well they were to me they are different from common names for instance, Jamie, John, kyle, Ryan, Matthew, boys names like that. (:

To be honest, though, those names aren’t particularly common now. I don’t know any child or teen called any of them.
