I'd really appreciate comments on our list. We've changed it a bit.

Eva-Marie
Karina
Isabelle
Chloe
Lenora
Astra
Isabella
Eva-Maria**
Madison

*I know it doesn't fit our style. I have a soft spot for it due to personal associations but I don't like Maddie. I was thinking to use this as a middle name. It goes nicely with Isabelle, in my opinion, and Isabella. Not so much with Eva-Marie.

**Used to be our favourite but after practicing to call it etc. we're just starting to prefer Eva-Marie more and more as it's much easier to say and call.

*I love the meaning of this, but a bit worried it's too weird. Astrid seems to be getting more popular, though.

Eva-Marie- prefer just Eva
Karina- medical term
Isabelle- lots around
Chloe- getting dated
Lenora- it’s ok, but does remind me of fabric conditioner
Astra- no, don’t like the ‘ads’ sound
Isabella- see above
Eva-Maria**- see above
Madison- not a fan, also think will date

Luredbyapomegranate · 11/04/2023 22:51

I love Karina - unusual but easy to say and spell. Best option by far.

Eva-Marie - Eve names all done to death, and Hyphens Are Always Bad
Karina - love it
Isabelle - lovely but done to death
Chloe - nice enough, getting quite popular
Lenora - too much like the softener, I like Leonora though
Astra - OK. Prefer Aphra or Aster
Isabella - done to death
Eva-Maria** - done to death, although Maria is nice enough (better than Marie)
Madison - naff 80s throwback, call her Madeline if you like Maddie

mumonherphone · 11/04/2023 22:17

Eva Marie and Eva Maria are far too close to Ave Maria. So huge no to those.

Marie/Maria are nice middle names for the others though.

Lenora Marie
Chloe Maria
Isabelle Marie etc...

SkyeBlue28 · 11/04/2023 20:07

Eva-Marie is beautiful. I have never seen that combination before. It’s my favourite from your list and I think your child would have a special memorable name.

I also really like Chloe. Isabella and Madison are great names as well.

Love Lenora (as well Lenore), but washing product makes it so hard to recommend
also love Isabella, Chloe and Eva-Marie, but I would spell it Eva Marie.

Hyphen was actually banned here were I live (Croatia), because it caused confusion whether a name with a hyphen is one name or two names, and some people get behind law of "only two first name and only two last names" by having a hyphen, therefore they got three names with a hyphen, which was technically against the law. But technically who can say they have three names if two names have a hyphen between them.

I find Astra lovely in sound, but I prefer Astrid by mile. I understand the appeal, but mind mind immediately jumped to Astrid. Might cause confusion.

Cinnamon23 · 11/04/2023 15:53

Eva-Marie - Eva is nice but Marie is one of those ‘filler’ middle names.
Karina - Neutral, I don’t hate it but don’t love it.
Isabelle - Popular but classic, fairly solid choice.
Chloe - Same as above, it’s a pretty name.
Lenora - Lenor fabric softener, I’m sorry!
Astra - I think of the Vauxhall.
Isabella - Same as Isabelle.
Eva-Maria - I like this more than Eva-Marie, but not keen on the double barrelling.
Madison - Not a huge fan, reminds me of American teen movies.

What about Astrid? Similar to Astra but without the car connotations.

Astrid Isabelle?

Sadiegirl87 · 11/04/2023 15:21

The only one I like is Isabelle to be honest.
Astra is strange to me for a child reminds me on astrology. Lenora is ok but prefer Nora. Eve Marie seems long and Eva Maria too religious.

BevMarsh · 11/04/2023 15:17

Karina is beautiful.
Also like Isabella/Isabelle as I love nn Belle.

Hungryfrogs23 · 11/04/2023 15:16

I actually love Madison as a name, but from the others on your list Karina or Chloe. Chloe is a beautiful name imo.

Really dislike double barrelled first names.

KayEmAy · 11/04/2023 15:14

Both are lovely but I actually like Eva-Maria more than Eva-Marie!

Karina - pretty, though I like Katarina even more
Isabelle - pretty, just so common
Chloe - pretty
Lenora - lovely, just not my style
Astra- LOVE

Madison - so so many Madison/Maddie's

Comfies · 11/04/2023 15:03

Chloe or Astra

WaitingfortheTardis · 11/04/2023 15:01

Isabelle is pretty, but quite popular. Astrid is beautiful, not too weird but not one you hear every day.

KirstenBlest · 11/04/2023 13:59

Eva-Marie - Eva and Evie are too popular. Too close to Ave Maria
Karina - OK but prefer Carina
Isabelle - overused
Chloe - overused about 25 yrs ago
Lenora - ok, a bit close to a product name
Astra - OK, prefer Astrid. Nice car.
Isabella - see Isabelle
Eva-Maria** - will get called Ava-Maria. See Eva-Marie
Madison - surname. dated

My thoughts too.

Karina and Isabelle are my favourites if I had to choose.

PrettyMaybug · 11/04/2023 14:50

Eva-Marie - Quite nice
Karina - Not keen
Isabelle - No, not a fan
Chloe - Outdated. Overused
Lenora - Hell no.
Astra - Nice car. NOT a name (IMO)
Isabella - Bit better than Isabelle, still not a fan
Eva-Maria. Not bad
Madison - I like it.

I'd post my thoughts but this poster read my mind.

sandstormboots · 11/04/2023 14:21

Chloe or Karina

LilacSloth · 11/04/2023 14:17

I like Karina best from your list. Karina Marie or Karina Madison both sound nice. Chloe is lovely as well.

SneezyEvie · 11/04/2023 13:53

I prefer Astrid but out of your list I like Isabelle.

shakeitoffsis · 11/04/2023 10:25

I love Astra!

rumnraisinrocks · 11/04/2023 10:25

I like Chloe and Karina

Like a pp I like Leonora rather than Lenora

MissyB1 · 11/04/2023 10:22

Lenora is too close to the fabric conditioner I’m afraid. Leonora on the other hand would be lovely.

Allchangename354 · 11/04/2023 10:19

I like Chloe.

I have a hyphenated first name and find it a bit of a pain. Some online forms don’t recognise or allow it but then passport etc has it. However there are loads of people with it who may not be bothered at all.

Laurdo · 11/04/2023 10:15

I love Chloe. It's a classic and not really popular just now.

Isabelle/Isabella are nice if you're ok with them potentially being shortened to Izzy, Bella, Belle etc.

Not a fan of hyphenated names.

Astra reminds me of the car and Lenora of fabric softener. My friends DD is Lorena which I think is lovely.

Not overly keen on Karina. Kara is nicer I think.

shadowchancesassy · 11/04/2023 10:11

Lenora is my favourite from the list.
