Which do you prefer for the little brother of Nathaniel (Nate)?

Surname is 🦊

Zachary

PurpleAirGuitar · 10/04/2023 23:37

I much prefer Gabriel individual, but I think I'd choose Zachary to go with Nathaniel, to avoid the similar endings. Unless you like Zachariah/Zacharias, to go with the extra length of Nathaniel!

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 09/04/2023 22:50

Zachary. Fabulous with your surname.

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/04/2023 19:12

Zachary. Although I’d go for Zachariah.

I like Gabriel but there are an awful lot of them

Girlsgirlsgirls08 · 09/04/2023 06:50

Zachary!

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 08/04/2023 19:19

Gabriel definitely.

PickledScrump · 08/04/2023 15:24

Zachary. I don’t like Gabriel. Zachary works better with Nathaniel and the surname too

MushroomQueen · 08/04/2023 13:22

Zachary i love both names but nn Zach i prefer. I have a long first name and an common nickname- i like having them both depending on my situation- I rarely get called my long name only by my mum in trouble or at drs. I had to give evidence court as a professional and having a long formal name gave me confidence

Confusedandthensome · 08/04/2023 13:19

Gabriel is one of my favourite names but I think Zachary goes better with Nathaniel and is also nice

CurlewKate · 08/04/2023 12:01

Zachary. Because Zac is so cool as a shortening. Don't like Gabe.

Viviennemary · 08/04/2023 12:00

Dont like Zachary at all. Gabriel is a bit better but there will be angel jokes. Wouldnt use either.

FayCarew · 08/04/2023 11:58

It's an international name so the pronunciation will vary.
[ˈɡeɪbrɪəl] is the std English pron.

@CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair , I'd say Nathaniel as Nuth-ann-yul an Gabriel as Gayb-ri-yul

Interesting, we definitely say it more as Gabe-re-el

Was going to say Gabriel until l saw Nathaniel...bit too much iel going on.

I’ve seen this a few times on this thread and am intrigued. In mine and DH’s accents (not the same) Nathaniel sounds similar to Daniel, so more of a ‘yul’ sound but Gabriel is definitely an ‘el’ sound.

Gabriel. I really dislike Zac as a shortening. Everything will sound cool with your surname though.

And I should have said I love both names. I have two sons who have two of the names on this thread... Another option might be Noah?

I do like the sound of Noah but it’s just too popular for me
and there’s quite a few in our wider circle.

I’m also a fan of Isaac nickname Zac too

That was a contender until I realised that Isaac Fox sounds quite close to “I suck cocks” 😂

Another vote for Zachary here

Hotcrossed · 08/04/2023 08:56

i prefer Gabriel

shoopshoopdedoo · 08/04/2023 08:54

I like both, but prefer Zachary

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/04/2023 08:51

Gabriel Fox. 😍😍😍😍

Briallen · 08/04/2023 08:40

I think Nate and Zach flow better than Nate and Gabe so based on that I’d go for Zachary but both names are great

I wouldn't worry about the names 'going together'. Much more important to give the children names that work for them individually for a lifetime.
