There was a thread like this a few years ago - I looked for it and couldn’t find it - so I thought I’d start another!

Mine is Rafferty. Loved it. DH vetoed.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@NEC2678 are you still making your decision?
I kinda agree with the suggestion - but Francis is so sweet
And it can be altered to Frank/ Frankie

Yes it is still my favourite just worrying I would be saddling my son with a feminine name. I would call him Frankie/Frank day to day but want Francis for the official name

ben. we loved it but it was quite out there a bit too brave for us

Ben, out there?

caringcarer · 05/04/2023 00:12

I'd have liked Francis after my Dad who died the year before son was born but DH not keen so it was his middle name.

FrangipaniBlue · 04/04/2023 23:26

We were semi brave and used our favourite as DS middle name (Ambrose).

I randomly picked it out of a book and fell in love with it. When I told DH he said "that's what my grandad who died when my mum was a child was called".

So there was no way after that it wasn't getting used!

I wish we'd used it at his first name but DS screws his face up when I say that so it was probably for the best 🙄

squeakstick · 04/04/2023 22:58

I really like Jordan but worry people will associate it with Katie price
I love Caelan but worry it's too out there / will struggle with spelling for life
I also love Jayden but worry it is really chavvy.

MikeLitoriss · 04/04/2023 22:38

Silver
Ozymandias
Icarus
Cyrus
Cash
Aslan

We went with a very run of the mill names in the end 😂

HeartshapedFox · 04/04/2023 22:37

I really liked Ivor for our DS, but it would have paired very badly with my surname so we went for something standard instead. Still love it though.

KnottyAndPistey · 04/04/2023 22:31

Thor

Our son was born during the most violent electrical storm. Hospital was hit by lightening knocking out the power. He’s 23 now so this was pre marvel films. Would have been pretty out there.

Our son really likes it too. Ah well!

DoNutSweatTheSmallStuff · 04/04/2023 22:25

Amos
Cornelious
Bertram
Lester

Alsoplayspiccolo · 04/04/2023 22:16

Bear
Jago
for DS, but we picked a name that has been mentioned above and I still absolutely love it.

Blythe
Tippi
for DD, but she loves the name we settled on and it's beautiful and unusual.

Dinosaurus86 · 04/04/2023 22:10

I love Humphrey. Still might use it if we have another DS…

hlc123 · 04/04/2023 22:09

Seriously? Every other lad my DD’s age is called either Ben or Sam. 🤣🤣

CountingMareep · 04/04/2023 21:54

Amadeus. Love the name but it doesn’t suit anything at all about our family.

For my DD I also briefly considered Juliet and Marianne. Perfectly lovely names but they somehow weren’t right.

Mimilamore · 04/04/2023 21:54

Dogs don't have the patent for names nor do bloody cats... they are NAMES up for grabs. Follow your heart, if you love it. Also worked in a school for years, nobody was bullied for their name, kids don't give a flying because they are not frightened of what others think, they learn that from adults later on. Some wonderful names not used in the list 😕

Sailawaygirl · 04/04/2023 21:52

I'm welsh but currently live in England. Would love
Bramwell
llewellyn

Also
Lettice for a girl. But sadly no

Springingintosummer · 04/04/2023 21:44

Gertrude ( yes, love it and family name) - not brave enough

Nathaniel
Bartholomew
Simeon ( really regret not using this one)

paulinesmithson · 04/04/2023 21:42

ben. we loved it but it was quite out there a bit too brave for us

Fudgewomble · 04/04/2023 21:38

My DS is at school with a Horatio, Rupert, Raef and Casper (and a few more of the names mentioned but my pea brain cant hold it in).

I really liked Murdo but I felt I wasn’t Scottish enough to pull it off.

feliciabirthgiver · 04/04/2023 21:38

Willoughby

Epicstorm · 04/04/2023 21:34

Nothing brave about using Leo. I don’t like it but that’s just personal taste.

I think of storm as a girls name not a boys.

AnnaBlush · 04/04/2023 21:18

specialklady · 04/04/2023 20:29

Fraser and Barty (Bartholomew)

Lollypop701 · 04/04/2023 20:15

Malakai … husband wouldn’t have it …. Just as well second one was a girl, although we couldn’t agree then either ….
