I love the name Cove, but does it suit a girl or a boy?

It’s an insult. Not a child’s name.
Give me strength.

redyellowpinkbluegreen · 31/03/2023 20:16

It's unisex to me

Kokeshi123 · 31/03/2023 04:22

It's Bertie Wooster describing one of his mates from the Drones!
Or it's a word from a geography book.

Caleb? Conrad? Connor?

Luredbyapomegranate · 31/03/2023 00:01

I prefer Splash

GreenLeavesRustling · 29/03/2023 20:16

No, it’s not a name.

Snugglemonkey · 29/03/2023 20:13

It is not a person name.

Catlover1705 · 29/03/2023 19:37

If you Google it, it's described as a gender neutral nature name like River. I would say more suitable for a boy

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 29/03/2023 19:25

It's a small coastal inlet, not a name. Put the Scrabble bag down...

DysonBison · 29/03/2023 19:10

A rum cove is the phrase that springs to mind.

It's really not a name. It's not even a particularly attractive word, unlike celery or tibia.

UsingChangeofName · 29/03/2023 19:04

Is cove a girls name or a boy name?

No.

Mum2jenny · 29/03/2023 18:48

Not a name for a person or an animal imo

PurpleAirGuitar · 29/03/2023 18:47

Small world - I used to live in Cove too (well, Rafborough, which was administratively part of Cove). It was OK when the kids were small but I wouldn't like to live there as a free agent who had a life - there was nothing whatsoever to do in the whole town!

Tellmethespoiler · 29/03/2023 17:54

It’s just a derogatory term - for a man. “Old cove.”

ourflagmeansdeath · 29/03/2023 17:44

Neither...but girl I'd say.

GilbertNo4 · 29/03/2023 16:07

@HowardKirksConscience 🤣 I used to live in Cove! You've hit the nail on the head!

IsaiditwasLighthearted · 29/03/2023 15:55

Agree to me it's a place, not a name. I know things like River and Forrest are sort of accepted now but youre ahead of the sandy beachy curved inlet on this one.

Meandfour · 29/03/2023 15:47

Neither. It’s not a name.

Sandysandwich · 29/03/2023 15:33

It doesnt sound much like a name but I would guess girl as it is a "softer" sound and looks similar to some names I have heard on girls or feminine sounding words
Clove
Cleo
Cora
Mauve
Dove

@Chersfrozenface don't forget the cousins - Spit, Bank and Bay.

And if you'd intended to call a boy Bay and then had a girl, you could always call her Bae.

inappropriateraspberry · 29/03/2023 15:04

@Chersfrozenface don't forget the cousins - Spit, Bank and Bay.

myveryownelectrickitten · 29/03/2023 14:21

Pejorative term for a dodgy bloke - “a shady cove” — imagine a shifty type who is probably either a grifter, a cad or doing something probably slightly criminal. Or, obviously, a beach/cliff inlet. It’s not a name! Poor kid who’d be saddled with that!

Arapawa · 29/03/2023 14:08

no

SirChenjins · 29/03/2023 14:07

Cove Bay is the name of a suburb just south of Aberdeen - why not go the whole hog?!

MrsMoastyToasty · 29/03/2023 14:01

Kirstie Allsops son is called Bay.

pomegranatelover · 29/03/2023 13:53

I've never heard of it - is it popular where you live? It's just not a name in my community.
