Or am I saddling my son with a girly nickname.
Frankie will only be a nn whilst he is young for everyone who will say he’ll need a more formal name on the BC

Yeah gender neutral. Love it for a boy

Frankie is a nick name for boys and girls - Frances and Francesca and Frank and Francis.
It has also become widely used as a name outright, mostly for girls.

I think it is truly unisex - like Alex.

I would assume that Frankie was a girl

My mum is Frances known as Frankie. I always think of Frankie as a female nn and Frank as a male one.

Twoinapod · 28/03/2023 14:00

I’d be more likely to assume boy than girl

Yes, Frankie is definitely gender neutral as there are names on both sides that it could be short for.

If I saw Frankie written down I wouldn't assume one way or the other.

I know both male and female children called Frankie (actually called Franklin and Francesca). At one point I would have assumed male if I saw the name but now would not assume.
