Having both a William and an Alexander I’m a huge fan of both 😂Hugo not so keen on.

fairycupcakes · 26/03/2023 21:48

Alexander!

notthisagainforest · 25/03/2023 22:04

William. I have one in my class and he is lovely 😊

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 25/03/2023 22:02

William. So timeless and I also love that there are so many great historical namesakes - plus the fact that Shakespeare is the world's bestselling writer means the name is so well known/used in pretty much every country too.

2nd choice Alexander - because it's usually shortened and I'm less keen on "Alex" (and 9/10 times it seems to get shortened to that rather than one of the other nicknames). But it's also a lovely classic, international pick.

No to Hugo. While I secretly have a soft spot for old fashioned Hugh, Hugo on the other hand is quite trendy now (part of the current "O" ending trend for boys), and I'm generally not keen on names that might date people.

Alexander

MajorCarolDanvers · 25/03/2023 21:44

I Alexander

avocadotofu · 25/03/2023 21:41

I really love Hugo. I like Alexander. I'm not that keen on William but don't hate it.

Lydiahateswashing · 25/03/2023 21:39

Hugo (but I have one, so am biased)!

ComeTheFuckOnBridgett · 25/03/2023 21:38

Alexander

shoopshoopdedoo · 25/03/2023 21:29

Love Alexander
Like William
Really dislike Hugo, personally

Karatequeen · 25/03/2023 06:23

Hugo is top for me. Shortens well to Huw and Huey which are very sweet.

the other names are fine but not my cup of tea

user1492757084 · 25/03/2023 06:02

All handsome.
I prefer William.

delshell · 25/03/2023 04:34

I love Alexandar, like William and dislike Hugo.

Jadviga · 24/03/2023 23:50

Alexander without a hesitation. Lovely name. Would have considered it if a similar name wasn't already used by a family member.

I may still use it as a middle name regardless.

Leeds2 · 24/03/2023 23:49

My favourite of the three is Alexander. Then Will. Then Hugo.

Theoldwoman · 24/03/2023 23:39

It all depends on middle name, surname, siblings.

I love Alexander, but not Alex. Love William and Will. Hugo is a no.

Emelene · 24/03/2023 23:36

I have a little William and I love it. I prefer Will/Wills as a nickname compared to Alex.

SazCat · 24/03/2023 23:28

But I also really like Billy as a name and so I did consider William to shorten to that. Had 2 DDs in the end tho!

SazCat · 24/03/2023 23:27

Love Alexander, had that on my list!

PhotoTakenOnAToaster · 24/03/2023 23:20

I like Hugo. There aren’t many of them.
However, it does always make me think of this ‘what’s a long name for Hugo’ thread and makes me chuckle… Hugoagogo …..Hugothatway

Love them all!

TheIsleOfTheLost · 24/03/2023 23:14

Alexander. Love it.

Sandysandwich · 24/03/2023 23:00

Love Alexander and William, I really like Alex and Will and I like that have easy nicknames and suit all ages.

Hugo is not my taste at all.

Ophelia55 · 24/03/2023 22:36

William is lovely, but hugely popular in my circle. I know so many little Wills that it feels a little bland at this point. Alexander is very handsome, and has lovely nickname options. Hugo is on our list, so that would be my personal pick. It’s not popular where we are, so it doesn’t feel too overdone, and the Hugos I know span the ages of two to 82 so it feels very versatile.

I love its easy spelling, international flair, and the way it somehow manages to feel modern and fresh even as it has a great history behind it.

Morningcoffeeview · 24/03/2023 19:24

I have a Hugo and I love the name.
