Could you comment on our list to help us pick the perfect name?

Clio (pronounced like Cleo, but we like it spelt like the muse)
Lily
Eva (we prefer this said the European way so more like EH-va with a long EH sound)
Chloe
Emma
Fiona
Lilou
Shelby
Ruby
Isabelle
Cassandra
Isabella
Emmie
Ellie
Eleanor "Ellie"

We need to narrow it down a bit, to find our top 10 and then go from there. Thanks for your help, comments appreciated.

You'll get a lot of hate on mumsnet over Ellie as it was very very popular in England for many years and is often described on here as twee, wet and proletariat. It's reducing in popularity and is low down in the top 100 however other EL names such as Ella, Elsie, Elizabeth, Eliza, Eleanor and Elodie are all popular atm.

Lily, Eva, Emma, Ruby.

I like Cassie as a nickname for Cassandra and Isobel spelt like that.

Eleanor is the nicest name on your list imo. Ruby is cool too.

If you like Lily and Lilou, have you considered Lilith?

It would be a nightmare to be called Clio with that spelling as it would always be misspelled. My daughter's friend is called Eva (pronounced Eh-va as she's from Eastern Europe) but everyone calls her Ee-va (against her mother's wishes). I don't think you can force people to pronounce it in an alternative way. So I would cross those two names off your list.

The other names are all nice, although I don't particularly like Fiona.

I only like Eva & Ruby but I’m confused by your pronunciation of Eva. Are you saying it like Ava?

Lilou is awful. Sounds like a swimming pool inflatable.
