Met a girl today who had this name with the nickname Noah. What are your thoughts on it?? And the name Noah for a girl.

Janoah is the only name I have heard of with Noah.
I don't like Shanoah or Janoah really.

Sandysandwich · 21/03/2023 23:36

Sounds a bit like a couple called Shannon and Noah wanted to give their kid a combo name. I knew a Tim and Lisa who called their daughter Tisa.

PMAmostofthetime · 21/03/2023 23:13

@ourflagmeansdeath

I love Noah/ Noa for a girl but I'm not a fan of Shanoah sorry.

CC4712 · 21/03/2023 23:01

I know a Shona- pronounced Show-Na (might be spelt differently in Ireland/Scotland though?). I'm not familiar with Shanoah. Sorry, it sounds made up and reminds me of a misspelling of Shania, like the singer.

Habreathmint · 21/03/2023 23:00

In the chav category of Nevaeh etc

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 21/03/2023 23:00

It sounds like Chat Noir.

maddy68 · 21/03/2023 22:58

Sounds like a virus to me. Sorry

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 21/03/2023 22:55

No.

Menstrualcycledisplayteam · 21/03/2023 22:52

My cousin is called Shenoah - she's bloody lovely. But, no, not a great name IMO.

It's a NOah from me.

Nailed it

How about Shoshanna?

Is it pronounced shar-noah, or sha-nwah (like quinoa)?

The one I met was a Shuh-noah if that makes sense?

Only one positive opinion out of everyone from what I can see so it's a definite no clearly. 😂

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 21/03/2023 20:44

Neither. One looks made up and one is the most popular name... for boys.

Libmama · 21/03/2023 19:54

I know of a Chenoa said the same way

LuluBlakey1 · 21/03/2023 19:52

Awful- just made up like Kayden, Jayden etc. They sound really common and chavvy.

AmandaMirandaPanda · 21/03/2023 19:50

Never heard of Shanoah before.

Noa's a feminine name in Hebrew, different root from Noach which became the contemporary English boys name Noah. Outside of Israel/Jewish communities it's been used a lot in Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries, I believe, where it's less likely to be confused with Noé, the corresponding form of Noach/Noah.

CallMeBettyBoop · 21/03/2023 19:40

Terrible!

Moneypanicker · 21/03/2023 19:38

just no!

cocksstrideintheevening · 21/03/2023 19:31

I know of one, american if that makes a difference. Really don't like it.

Ryanstartedthefire2 · 21/03/2023 19:25

I like it!

No 'boys' names for girls. It's depressing.

MyMumsOnMN · 21/03/2023 19:23

It's like Shania but worse.

Dreadful. So is Noah/Noa for a girl. It will scream what decade she is born in years to come as a ‘fashion’ name 🙄

And so does phyllis, Dora, Maureen, Sharon and Tracey

Most people have names you can guess their age from 🤷

Jesko · 21/03/2023 19:20

Sounds like a makey upper contraction of Shenandoah.
