Do you like this name? How many do you know?
Is it too bold for a new baby?

Big fan!

dancingonthemoon · 23/03/2023 21:48

Love it! Such a good name, go for it!

user1492757084 · 22/03/2023 07:02

Frank is nice.
It is similar in style to Bruce, Clive, Kevin, Norm, Dean
A strong sporty feel...like a cricketer.

D0t · 22/03/2023 06:46

Frankie could be boy or girl but mostly likely boy

frank I would assume boy but would think it’s cool for a girl.

D0t · 22/03/2023 06:44

Love it!

Sorry but I have no idea what this means

It means a bit old time cockney/east end

SneezyEvie · 22/03/2023 06:40

I know a 6yo Frank. I like it.

I think there is a slight pronunciation difference - said as they're spelt. I was surprised to hear someone say it was a unisex name recently.

There isn’t, they are said exactly the same

Climbingthelaundrymountain · 21/03/2023 23:00

I love it. I wanted to call ds3 Frank/Frankie but dh said no. His middle name is Frank and we mostly call him Frank or Frankie anyway instead of his actual first name so dh should have just let me call him Frank in the first place!

Luredbyapomegranate · 21/03/2023 22:59

It’s popular.

I like it better short for Francis or Franklin

Snugglemonkey · 21/03/2023 21:23

I love Frank. I don't like Francis so would go with Frank/Frankie just.

It’s a bit knees up mother brown. But then if that’s what you like then go for it.

Is there any pronunciation difference between Francis and Frances?!
I worth Francis is terribly feminine as per a few posters on here

Francis is male and Frances is female. No pronunciation difference

in my accent no difference, but perhaps in a more 'proper' southern accent there would be.

To clarify I don't think Francis is terribly feminine, I just find it drab, especially compared to Frank which I love. If you go for Francis on BC planning to call. him Frank you will have to accept one day he might choose to just be Francis.

It must be back in fashion because there have been so many threads asking opinions on it lately. I think it’s an awful name though.

Carsarelife · 21/03/2023 19:55

I really like it. I prefer Frank to Frankie

I have a 14 year old frank ..suits him
not come across any other the same age yet

Mumof1andacat · 21/03/2023 19:47

Francis on the birth certificate. Frank is an OK nickname. Frankie is more of a nickname for girls call Frances (female spelling)

hattymattie · 21/03/2023 19:35

I'm old so I think of Frank Spencer. I'd go for Francis.

DramaAlpaca · 21/03/2023 19:35

To be honest, I think it's an incredibly ugly and harsh name.

Francis is fine but only as a middle name where it won't get shortened
