Is it my place to say?

My brother has a 2yo daughter and another on the way. They are planning on using a name for daughter #2 that would rhyme with #1s and is the same amount of syllables. Think Mia and Tia or Ella and Bella.

What I'm thinking of saying is not that I think this is terrible or stupid or anything but just to suggest that maybe it would be a better idea to choose a name that isn't almost identical. My dad is on the same page but our mum has told us not to ruin the moment.

What do you think?

If it’s genuinely as obvious as Mia and Tia or Ella and Bella then there’s no way they haven’t realised it rhymes and they’re no doubt doing it on purpose because they think it sounds cute, so any criticism from you is likely to go down like a lead balloon. You’re right and it sounds ridiculous but stay out of it.

It may not be something you would want, but have you considered that maybe they do?

BuffaloCauliflower · 20/03/2023 18:57

I guarantee they know it rhymes, if it doesn’t bother them already you saying something won’t change that

SpinningFloppa · 20/03/2023 18:57

It’s up to them. I wouldn’t say anything. I have a friend whose kids have rhyming names I wouldn’t do it personally but it’s not my kids. Not your place to say anything.

It has zero to do with any of you. Unless you're asked for your opinion, stay quiet.
