DS has arrived, we are undecided on two names they give the same nickname but to me have a totally different feel.
I prefer the classic Francis and DP prefers Franklin, we are calling DS Frankie whilst young and assume Frank as he grows
Please help us to decide which name for the BC as we are registering at 10am tomorrow morning

I would just call him Frank if that's what you foresee him being called as an adult. Out of the two names you've said I would go with Franklin but Francis is still nice just a bit old feeling to me

resm · 16/03/2023 21:39

Francis 100% - it’s a great name for any age & personality. Congratulations on the arrival of your little boy!

Snugglemonkey · 16/03/2023 21:11

I really love Frankie. I would go with Frank or Francis. Probably just Frank though.

Bibbitybobbityboot · 16/03/2023 20:38

Francis. Franklin is awful (but I hate surnames as first names and it may be old but sounds v much like a surname)

Snoopystick · 16/03/2023 20:03

Francis!

Xarrie · 16/03/2023 20:01

Not Franklin!

LysHastighed · 16/03/2023 19:36

Francis.

pilates · 16/03/2023 19:33

Francis

Twoinapod · 16/03/2023 19:31

Out of the two then Franklin, I always see Francis as very feminine and wet sounding and really don’t understand the love for it. But if he’s going to be called Frankie or Frank then just go with Frank. It’s much better than Francis or Franklin.

BevMarsh · 16/03/2023 18:52

Prefer Franklin.
Francis, to me sounds very feminine.

TomatoSandwiches · 16/03/2023 18:47

It can't be Franklin, the one and only Franklin I've met was a Chihuahua on the NY Subway, he was cute but no name for a child 😁

hattie43 · 16/03/2023 18:47

Frank is for a French bulldog . I can't get my head around it for a child . Francis is better

TomatoSandwiches · 16/03/2023 18:46

Francis or, hear me out...... Francois.

AngelDelightUK · 16/03/2023 18:44

Franklin. Francis is too Uni-sex for me. I know the female version is spelt differently, but it always sounds like a girls name to me

I know a Franklin and I think it’s a lovely name

User6761 · 16/03/2023 18:34

Francis 💯
Franklin is awful, sorry.

ourflagmeansdeath · 16/03/2023 18:33

Another vote for Francis, lovely name

KirstenBlest · 16/03/2023 17:54

@musicandpassion , it was an English surname, and I think it's probably associated with Benjamin Franklin and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
I see it a bit like Madison, Carter, Reagan, Theodore, Lincoln, Jackson, Harrison, Taylor,...

RuthW · 16/03/2023 17:42

Francis

musicandpassion · 16/03/2023 15:02

I'm biased as my son is called Franklin. Not really sure what all the hate it about... probably because it's "American" when it's actually not, it's an old English name.

Yesthatismychildsigh · 16/03/2023 14:41

Francis. Not my taste but infinitely better than the hideous Franklin, which is a surname.

pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs · 16/03/2023 14:32

Love Francis. Classic. Franklin feels American to me (signed, an American).

Pegsmum · 16/03/2023 14:31

Frank.

shoopshoopdedoo · 16/03/2023 14:28

Definitely Francis! Also, Congratulations!

bravotango · 16/03/2023 14:22

I'd just have Frank! Love it, Frankie is cute too 🙂

Bunnyishotandcross · 16/03/2023 14:16

Francis Rossi is anything but wet!. My dgf was John Francis.. I have the female spelling as does my pfb!
