Now that we are long past the Game of Thrones days I feel like this name has longevity and it feels classically beautiful, like Iris or Elizabeth. Thoughts please

I have an Aria & I adore it as a name (obviously). I've never watched GOT & only had one person highlight to me that it's a character from GOT. I've had SO many compliments on her name too. IMO, go with it, you won't regret it!

Twoinapod · 13/03/2023 20:07

I think it’s going to be linked to GoT for a long time yet. It became very popular because of got and I think will become quite dated

MaoamAddict · 13/03/2023 18:19

Just came to say @Rockingcloggs valar dohaeris

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 13/03/2023 17:59

Ooh yes, Maria is gorgeous

Bananalanacake · 13/03/2023 17:57

Add an M to the beginning and you have a lovely name.

ourflagmeansdeath · 13/03/2023 17:40

I love Aria personally, think it's gorgeous. And I love Elizabeth too but not as keen on Iris.

toastofthetown · 13/03/2023 15:09

Personally I see Aria and Iris as more trendy names than a classic name such as Elizabeth. Looking at the popularity both names have risen dramatically in popularity over the last twenty or so years and will almost certainly decline back to very low use when the trend is replaced with the next one. Different to Elizabeth which has been in the top hundred in England and Wales since records began.

Aria is fine. Not exciting and will probably be date but it’s inoffensive and won’t be a burden.

What does a nothing make mean?

I think it's a beautiful name.

Riapia · 13/03/2023 13:50

Drop the first A.
She’ll love you for it, promise.
😉😁😁😁

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 13/03/2023 13:09

I like it but I don't love it. It makes me think of a musical aria rather than GOT.

My hesitation with it is that it is incredibly delicate sounding - what if your DD isn't like that? I'm certainly not! I could never have lived up to the name!

Rockingcloggs · 13/03/2023 13:06

Love it.

Also, I am not past my GOT days and I never will be - valar morghullis.

PacificallyRequested · 13/03/2023 13:03

The name from GOT is Arya, not Aria. Totally different pronunciation!
I agree with PP, Aria is a nothing name.

KnickerlessParsons · 13/03/2023 12:59

I don't like Aria, sorry. I like Ria though.

DuchessOfSausage · 13/03/2023 12:57

I don't fins Iris beautiful, although I like the flower. It's ok.
Elizabeth is a classic name. Also OK.

Aria is so nothingy, it's just air. I can't see any appeal in it, but it seems have become popular since GoT.

I don't really like vowelly names.
