What's the nicest boys name you ever heard?
Did you use it wish you used it it or a saving it for the future?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Lucien
Austin
Sebastian
Tate
But DH didn't feel the same so used a different name we both liked

Sebastian, Austin, Tate were in my top 5 Grin husband didn't like any of them.

We went with a very popular name in the UK (we're overseas so it's not as popular here). It was in top 5 in England about 12 years ago.

What sort of name did you go for? :)

LottieDot · 23/03/2023 07:59

Alejandro but couldn't use it as would be very odd for a fully English couple!

Also love

I can’t believe all the votes for james!
to me it’s such a big standard boring name
but each to their own

I had a great Uncle Cornelius.
I never knew him.
When I found out I was fascinated by the name, I think its ace.

Corneluis is great, I just could never work out a shortening for it. Occasionally when I'm feeling silly I call my twins Horatio and Cornelius. I think we'd live a very different life with those names. I'd be richer and slimmer. DH would drive a big car. They'd have skiing lessons before they were 5

William is my top pick as I generally like names that are:
-Timeless and classless (so you can't guess someone's age or social background from them),
-Internationally well used/recognized (in case they travel widely or move abroad).

Bonus if:
-Lots of history/good variety of namesakes (fun discussion point with kids),
-Variety of nickname choice (so they can make the name their own),
-Reasonably popular (since it means the name is generally well liked, plus they can get personalised stuff easily which most kid seem to love).

Other names I considered:
James, Thomas, Edward, Samuel, Alexander and Michael (but William is the only one that hit all the points - although James came close and that seems a popular choice on this thread!).

eggsbenaddict · 20/03/2023 14:22

Simple, strong, traditional, timeless.

I also like Alban. As in St Albans-but you never ever see it used and I don't really know why. Was he a dodgy saint or something? Grin

tatteddear · 20/03/2023 13:32

I like James too. And Christopher (nn Kit). Those would have been my sons names.

My most favourite is Demetrio. I didn't have boys, or marry someone from a Latin country so that our fictional boy could carry that off however!

Fifthtimelucky · 20/03/2023 12:29

Sebastian. I've loved it ever since watching Belle and Sebastian as a child in the 1960s.

My husband hated it, so probably just as well we didn't have a boy!

Heckythump1 · 20/03/2023 08:34

Toby.... had two girls though so never got to use it!
Closely followed by Percy, Teddy and Monty.
