Is it too much of a rhyme?

Love the name Clara, but surname rhymes… as in O’….
Would it be okay or silly? Would it even matter?!

Claudia as an alternative?

Claudine O'Hara would flow even better.

What about Clarissa as an alternative to Clara?

Clarissa O'Hara is a bit of a tongue twister.

Why do I love Clara O'Hara?! I shouldnt but I do.

Me too!!

AmandaMirandaPanda · 07/03/2023 22:06

One of my (imaginary) children is called Darragh O'Mara Capybara. I don't see what's so funny.

MyEasterEggs · 07/03/2023 22:01

Cora? Cleo?

resm · 07/03/2023 21:56

How about Claire O’Hara?

Other suggestions:

Cat (Catriona/Catherine/Cathleen)
Kate
Clodagh
Chloe

We had a Donna Bonner in our school (obviously everyone pronounced it Donna Bonna)
Lovely sweet girl. I can't ever remember her getting picked on for it (I only know her from secondary school) but it's a name I'll never forget.

I also knew of an old man went by the name Bill, but he was William Williams 😆😆

What about Clarissa as an alternative to Clara?

BitOutOfPractice · 07/03/2023 21:50

I think you should use it as a pet name for her or maybe I’m the only one who has weird rhyming pet names along with millions of others for their kids

davegrohll · 07/03/2023 21:49

I really like it actually lol

soggydigestives · 07/03/2023 21:47

Love Clara. I like it. There's far worse!

LakeTiticaca · 07/03/2023 21:42

A bit like Gary and Phil Nevilles Dad.
Neville Neville. Great name and unforgettable!! 😉

Yea but I don’t think they will be well liked either! I have safe bet names but I like the idea of the ones I like. Names are so different now to how they used to be

But they won’t rhyme and sound like the punchline to a limerick!

Lovelyring · 07/03/2023 21:40

I actually like it!

R0ckets · 07/03/2023 21:32

What other names do you like? Names aren't that different these days. Yes there's some more unusual ones but there's still plenty of names that were used hundreds of years ago too, even more so now with the revival of 'granny type' names.

NaomhPadraigin · 07/03/2023 21:31

It doesn't bother me at all, I quite like it. I'd probably pause when I first heard it, but nothing more. I know a Brian O'Brien.

Dotcheck · 07/03/2023 21:30

Yes.

And then you can read her Hairy Maclary every night.

Nellieinthebarn · 07/03/2023 21:29

No it sounds like a joke name or a character from a children's book like Dora the Explorer. Please don't.

R0ckets · 07/03/2023 21:29

CastlesByTheSea · 07/03/2023 21:25

Haha yes I’ve been told it’s like a story book name by some irl 🙈 back to the drawing board

Definitely bcak to the drawing board she will thank you endlessly when she's called something more mundane and realises what a lucky escape she had.

Also I said beano up above but the reason it sound like a book character is because it sounds in the same vein as Hairy Maclary and his buddies. Clara O'hara would fit in perfectly.

Undermyumberellaellaella · 07/03/2023 21:28

Please don't do this. I know a Jayden Kayden and had to try and not laugh when I first heard it.

CastlesByTheSea · 07/03/2023 21:26

R0ckets · 07/03/2023 21:16

Agreed. Surley you don't even have to ask if that's ridiculous or not.

There must be other names you like that won't make your poor child sound like a beano character.

I like it Grin. I once knew a Mavis Davis

Kitchenette · 07/03/2023 21:26

Save it for the heroine of your first novel.

Tailfeather · 07/03/2023 21:25

I like it!
