Is it too much of a rhyme?

Love the name Clara, but surname rhymes… as in O’….
Would it be okay or silly? Would it even matter?!

Yes, you definitely can't use that.

My surname is Hill and one of my favourite names is Lily, but Lily Hill sounds a bit stupid so I've never used it. Same with Matilda nn Tilly.

Edith O’Hara is lovely

Or Meredith if you want something more unusual

Flora
Stella
Oona
Emma
all work in place of Clara

or
Alicia
in place of Araminta which is nowhere near as mental as Clara O’Hara but is too awkward to say

Yahyahs22 · 11/03/2023 12:30

I like Edith but spelt like Edyth. For what it's worth I much before Clara

DurdleSnore · 09/03/2023 10:14

Edith O’Hara is beautiful.

Edith O’Hara is great. Araminta I like but I find Araminta O’Hara slightly hard to say- it’s like an elocution lesson in a name. A lots of As.

Minty O'Hara sounds good though.

sunflowerdaisyrose · 08/03/2023 23:48

Edith flows better but Clara is a beautiful name so I'd go with it anyway!

PeraltasWife · 08/03/2023 23:43

I think Clara O'Hara is a beautiful name, yes it rhymes but it flows so nicely. If you love the name go for it

Whydothat · 08/03/2023 23:43

I love it

BubziOwl · 08/03/2023 23:34

I really like Araminta, but I don't think it flows well with your surname.

Edith would work brilliantly, lovely name.

As for Clara O'Hara... I love it Grin but the fact that other people feel so strongly against it would put me off, sadly.

Clara O'Hara? No.

This

SugarNspices · 08/03/2023 23:20

Another vote for Clara O'Hara! Born to be the main character😁

Kitchenette · 08/03/2023 23:12

Yea but I don’t think they will be well liked either! I have safe bet names but I like the idea of the ones I like. Names are so different now to how they used to be

What other names do you like? Names aren't that different these days. Yes there's some more unusual ones but there's still plenty of names that were used hundreds of years ago too, even more so now with the revival of 'granny type' names.

Araminta and Edith x

I genuinely love it!

The divided opinion might sway me away from it though since it wouldn't be me who has to live with it.

I did give one DC a very illiterative name though, so I guess it was likely to be my thing.

KirstenBlest · 08/03/2023 09:21

Clara O'Hara is great @CastlesByTheSea , but why not add Sara as a middle name.

KirstenBlest · 08/03/2023 09:19

LakeTiticaca · 07/03/2023 21:42

A bit like Gary and Phil Nevilles Dad.
Neville Neville. Great name and unforgettable!! 😉

It's brilliant
I know lots of people with names like John Jones, David Davies, Robert Roberts, William Williams, and one Steve Stevens.

mathanxiety · 08/03/2023 02:29

O'Hara, O'Meara, O'Gara..

No.

Undermyumberellaellaella · 07/03/2023 21:28

Please don't do this. I know a Jayden Kayden and had to try and not laugh when I first heard it.

And I bet it was shortened to JK which I think is pretty cool (love Jamiroquai)

merrymelodies · 08/03/2023 00:59

Why would you give your child a silly name, leaving them open to mockery?

LadyVictoriaSponge · 08/03/2023 00:58

It’s so wrong it’s right, I like it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Emptycrackedcup · 08/03/2023 00:54

Yahyahs22 · 07/03/2023 21:15

Why do I love Clara O'Hara?! I shouldnt but I do.

I actually feel the same! I like it, I'm shocked but I do!

WinterMusings · 08/03/2023 00:10

How about Claudie

Barleysugar86 · 08/03/2023 00:03

No you can't use this name. But I feel you.

I loved Clara too but Clara Clark was just too much as well!

Enko · 07/03/2023 23:56

I like it.
I knew a Jordan Morgan didn't do him any harm he liked his rhyming name.

LesserBohemians · 07/03/2023 22:39

Clarissa O'Hara is a bit of a tongue twister.

And makes me desperately want to say ‘Clarissa O’Harissa’!
