Yes or no, what are your thoughts
What does it remind you of

Double barreled names with Rose or Mae/May have really been overdone and are very boring. Also if you were to use Rose or Mae/May as the middle name it could still wind up being a double barreled name. Don't do it.

Changedname81 · 06/03/2023 16:42

Lucy Rose is pretty or is it Lily you definitely want to keep?

if not Lydia Rose is also pretty 😍

if you deffo want Lily then

Lily Jane
Lily Wren
Lily Marie
Lily Isobel?

Sorry it's just so 'meh' and strikes me as I wanted something cutesy but didn't put much thought into it.

Both individually they are nice names (though Rose is very filler in the middle name spot) but there must be thousands of Lily Rose's out there.

I actually really like Lily (though think it makes a lovely middle name). If yoy like floral names how about Lily Violet, Lily Marigold, Lily Iris instead? They are just a bit more interesting

Super dull sorry. Like calling a daughter Sarah Louise in the 80s.

Jujuj · 05/03/2023 23:17

… Depp

DipperandMabel · 05/03/2023 22:24

All lovely choices @Bubblemachiene - all 2 syllable names and similar-ish in style. Lily or Lucy would be my favourite depending on your surname though the other two might sound better.

Twee, wet and overdone.

Rose on its own is nice, but there are an awful lot of them

morningsicknessagain · 05/03/2023 18:44

My daughter has two Lily's in her class so they are known by their name followed by the initial of their last name as with others popular duplicate names.

We’re starting to see primary schools where 98% of pupils are called Jack or Lily, resulting in teachers being unable to address any of their pupils individually.

Wow Shock

It's a parody site 😊

Twizbe · 05/03/2023 18:13

Lilly rose May was a sweet little girlie, her eyes were so blue and her hair was so curly....

Makes me think of Princess and the peas.

VikingLady · 05/03/2023 18:10

The Family at One End Street.

I wanted the name, but DH vetoed it because he didn't like the book.

DipperandMabel · 05/03/2023 17:51

Lily is fine on its own - if that’s the name he likes I would go with that (only if you like it too).

Could you pick the middle name, maybe a name you wouldn’t have the confidence to give as a first name? For example. I love the name Anastasia but wouldn’t give it as a first name but I would give it as a middle name

megletthesecond · 05/03/2023 17:49

No. Too popular and twee.
Chose one or the other.

DipperandMabel · 05/03/2023 17:47

What other names are you thinking @Bubblemachiene ?

ColdHandsHotHead · 05/03/2023 17:43

This is the painting that Mrs Ruggles took the name from. www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/sargent-carnation-lily-lily-rose-n01615

PauliString · 05/03/2023 17:06

The Ruggles! That was it. With twins (natch) called Jim and John, and four or five assorted other children who do random stuff like burning the ironing and getting lost on boats.

Bubblemachiene · 05/03/2023 16:06

Ok it's off my list guys.
😄😄

Pretty sure Lily Allen's middle name is Rose

Lily-Rose Ruggles from The Family at One End Street series. Lovely stories.

"It says ‘family at One End Street’ to me, but that’s quite an old children’s book and I doubt you’ll spark that memory in many people."

My first thought when I hear Lily Rose is the Ruggles although I couldn't remember the name of the book.

Same 🤣.

Both names are incredibly over used.

Cheesy!

And Lily is sooo overused...!
