Do you need me to explain averages?

Well, quite. There were apparently thirty-one Nigels named in 1996, who are hopefully now living their lives as happy twenty-seven-year olds. Their existence doesn’t change the fact that the average* Nigel is not twenty-seven!

*mode, I suppose, but it’s been some years since I did statistics and I am open to correction Smile

Three posts in response to me? You really want my attention. Sorry, you’ll have to pick a fight elsewhere.

PS I’m female. Sono stronza.

OK I concede.

TheGaffer · 29/05/2023 19:16

I like it…went to school with an Italian boy called Rocco. He’s the only one I’ve known in real life.

Is it fun being a stronzo?

Don't come on Mumsnet and ask for name opinions. Most of the people on here are all up their own arses!

CharlottenBurger · 29/05/2023 18:44

You think there's something admirable about being 'average'? Like a sheep?

Scusi, dottore! Mean, median, or mode?

Chispazo · 29/05/2023 18:35

I prefer Roscoe

Rocco Pagliarulo (born 21 November 1994, Salerno), professionally known as Rocco Hunt, is an Italian rapper and singer. Proud dad Gino D'Acampo marked his son Rocco turning 18 with some selfies and a photo of the teenager (Daily Mirror Feb 2023)

Yes, and he is seventy-eight, which is at the younger end of average for an Italian Rocco!

No unless you're Italian and even most Italians wouldn't.

KirstenBlest · 29/05/2023 16:04

He has italian heritage on both sides, and is rich, and as @PuntoEBasta posted is nearly 80.

Sir Rocco Forte owns a chain of hotels, as did his father, Lord Forte.

TheOGCCL · 29/05/2023 15:51

It needs to be said with an Italian flourish and you can’t get away with that unless you are Italian

overitunderit · 29/05/2023 15:40

I like it. The only one we know is from a "nice" family. Brother is Hugo.

Undervaluedandsad · 29/05/2023 15:16

I know a Rocco. Didn’t like it to begin with but it has totally grown on me. It suits him.

People on mum's net always say it's chavvy but the only Rocco I know (aged 10) is incredibly middle class. I like it.

drpet49 · 29/05/2023 15:01

DrMarciaFieldstone · 01/03/2023 19:57

Chavvy round these parts, sorry. Usually a sibling of Jenson/Jayden/Brayden/Cayden

Same where I am too

OK quite surprised on how passionate people are expressing their extreme dislike for the name but everyone is free to do so I still like it
All the best to you all

I think it's a lovely name. I'm in Cornwall and my friend's son is called Rocco and I've always thought what a cool name it is. Interestingly I'm originally from Essex where I lived until a few years ago (home of the "chav" apparently, according to a previous poster) and don't know of any Rocco's back there (I only really knew of it previously due to Madonna's son and liked it then too!)

DRS1970 · 29/05/2023 14:44

I wouldn't, it is a brand of dog food.

ThickSkinnedSoWhat · 29/05/2023 14:25

Similar enough that you could get away with Balboa or Bullwinkle for the next one

CharlottenBurger · 29/05/2023 13:10

I once worked in a factory in Bristol and the cleaner bloke was called 'Rocco' by everyone. I assumed it was his name, or else it was because of the Johnny Rocco character in the film Key Largo. No, it was explained to me, it was 'Rock-o' because he was thick.

clarepetal · 29/05/2023 13:05

One of my sons friends is a "Rocco". He is a delightful boy, use it!
