Spelling help needed!

DD is nearly 3 weeks old. We've decided on a name for her but can't make a decision about spelling.

She's called Maia/Maya - pronounced My-a.

Originally we'd gone with Maia (my preference -i prefer the history of it and I think Maya could end up May-a) but people seem confused by the spelling.

Which would you go for?

I would pronounce both May-a

I know two Mayas, both My-a. But I agree that Maia is less ambiguous, so I'd go with that. (Also, nice Roman vibes, which I like.)

People will always have different pronunciations of these names, but it's easy to correct.

Maia as it looks like Gaia so I’d take an educated guess on how you wanted the name to be said. Maya would be May-ah to me.

Maia

WordtoYoMumma · 01/03/2023 04:05

Myah ?

Out of the two you suggested I'd go Maia

MrsWidgerysLodger · 01/03/2023 04:03

I'd pronounce both as May-ah so I'm no help at all. Sorry!
