Max

I really like the name Max but wondered if it’s slightly odd that you’d see it everywhere as a word -Pepsi Max, max strength, max speed, min and max etc etc. Feel free to tell me I’m overthinking! Does anyone else have this association?

I think Max is a very kind name to give your son as nobody would mind being a Max themselves would they? It's short, simple, cool. You just can't really go wrong with Max.

Just read the OP to my teen (not called Max) and he was really confused and laughed. He said no one associates Max (common name for his age group) with max & min, Pepsi max etc. 😂

Haha! Thanks :). Does he think of it as a macho name or just normal?!

Personally I like the longer version. Like when your kid isn't listening to you...

Mom : "Max ?"
Max : ...
Mom : "Max !"
Max : ...
Mom : "MAXIMILIAN !"

Nice to have that option to catch his attention 😁

I also really like Felix. In fact I like all -x names and most -s names (Jonas, Lucas, Matthias, Marcus, Magnus... Etc)

marinabillings · 02/03/2023 17:03

I think the only issue is that it's quite a popular name for dogs. Other than that I love it x

DuchessOfPaddington · 02/03/2023 16:31

It's a great name. It was in our final two for DS but in the end it was just that little bit too popular once you consider all of the variations and we went with something else. He would have been Maximilian.

Lavendersquare · 02/03/2023 14:59

@barca123 my soy is just Max, not Maxwell, Maximilian or Maximus etc because we weren't keen on any of those. We don't think it's ever bothered him and another bonus is that it was easy for him to spell when younger.

StopStartStop · 02/03/2023 11:46

Knock knock!
Who's there?
Max.
Max who?
Max no difference, open the door.

AliceTheeCamel · 02/03/2023 11:35

Nice name, no negative associations as far as I'm concerned. My only criticism is that it's super popular right now, if that bothers you (I know name popularity bothers some people more than others).

iknowwhatyoudid · 02/03/2023 11:30

My 12 year old is a Max and we all love it. Never associated it with a dog name tbh. He brother always points out his name whe he sees it on things. He was called Pepsi Max at primary, but he wasn't bothered, he quite liked it if I'm honest!

We have a Max too, he actually is Maximilian and I love that we gave him the longer variation. Max feels unfinished to me and we have family in other European countries we’re variations of Maximilian are popular. Although day-to-day he does just get Max or Maxy.

Hmm yes think I’d just do Max and worried if it’s enough!

My son is a Max and we love it. No issues ever with Pepsi Max etc although I did have to take a pack of sanitary towels off him aged 4 in a supermarket once - he wanted them because they had his name in 😂

But honestly that was the only thing ever, and we've never regretted giving him the name.

Haha! Amazing :)

My DS is Max and this association has never been an issue. Although when he was little he used to love spotting his name on things like a kettle! He's just Max as well. I really dislike the longer versions. Maxwell and Maxim aren't nice to my ears and Maximilian and Maximus are ridiculous and very 'big' names to carry off. I agree with pp - pretentious. Max is perfect on its own.

I agree :)

love it . Max is a great name , I chose it for the boy I was sure I was having who turned out to be a little girl.

Appleblum · 01/03/2023 00:11

I really like it! Would have it for my DS except there's already someone in the family with the name.

blibblibs · 01/03/2023 00:04

We have Max and also had a neighbour with a dog max when we brought him home from the hospital. Didn't care, it's just Max and he was utterly delighted when he was able to spell and write his name before everyone else

CoffeeChocolateWine · 28/02/2023 23:57

I have come across a few dogs called Max but again, a non-issue. I know kids called Rex and Rufus which are also 'dog' names but so what??
