Thoughts on the name Orton for a boy

Hello!
my partner and I have been pondering over the first name Orton for a boy. I’ve only ever heard it as a last name, and we prefer it to the similar sounding Orson, which is too much like Awesome for us. The only reason I’m not sure is because I’ve never heard or seen it as a first name anywhere, so I’m not sure if people will ‘get’ it or it’s too far left, so really interested to hear your honest thoughts. Does it sound nice or a bit too weird? Thanks!

I love it! We plan to use it as a middle name

I live near Leicester, so for me I'd think of the playwright Joe. Perhaps not the role model you'd want to remember (he was killed by a violent partner).

What is it about Orson that you like - it's modern feel, brevity etc. so we can suggest alternatives? It would be easy to spell though, so has that going for it.

Also Autumn.

I think for me there are too many it could be mistaken for so I'd avoid.

I like it, but I think the risk in using made up names is that people will hear it, not quite hear it properly, and relate it to a name that they know is a name.

So I think it will regularly get mistaken for Orson, Horton (as in 'hears a who'!) or even Austin.

Weird. I've only ever heard of it as an actual place, and that place was run down and ran by drug dealers also sounds more of a surname sorry!
