Is Cassius a nice name?
Thinking of using it for my little boy he's 2 weeks old
Do you have a Cassius if so what do people generally comment or think of it ?

Love it.
It was on my shortlist for DS.
He is 16 and recently told me he wishes that I had used it, rather than the name he has! 🙄

SallyWD · 21/02/2023 12:18

I really like it. I know a Cassius who's about 50. He was adopted and had Italian heritage so his parents chose this name. He's a cool guy and the name suits him.

MyOldFriendTime · 21/02/2023 12:16

You could call him Cassy Bear for short

Cute 🥰

@Growlybear83 something missing in your life? One thing to give your opinion on a name when it's still being decided, quite another once the baby has been named that name!! 🤨

Icanbetherubberband · 21/02/2023 11:45

Fantastic name ❤️

JaninaDuszejko · 21/02/2023 11:41

Some suggestions of strong, unusual names without the bloodthirsty/suicide connection:

Gawain
The beheader of the Green Knight?
Julius
Roman dictator who was almost tried for war crimes because of his cruelty during his conquering of Gaul?
Magnus
Sacrificed himself to avoid a war between his supporters and the supporters of his cousin for the Earlship?
Hector
The greatest Trojan warrier that kicked Patroclus?

Any historic boys name may have negative violent associations if you go looking for them.

Sorry, I think Cassius is a horrible name, but only slightly worse that Theodore!

It's OK obviously something missing in your life to try and bring others down
I'm happy with my choice so u go on and have a lovely day I know I will
Sending you some love as you clearly need it x

The OP was asking for opinions and I gave mine. I still think they're awful names.

That's SO rude when OP has just said she's naming him that. Have a word with yourself.

RosesAndHellebores · 21/02/2023 11:10

@Growlybear83 how utterly nasty when the op has confirmed her choice of name after two weeks of deliberation.

Does this name keep popping up on here a lot or am I seeing the same thread??

Personally I don't like it. It reminds me of the watch brand.

But I don't think it's ever a good idea to ask about a name when you're pregnant. You're never going to get a name everyone likes and if you're going for something quite out there and unusual you just need to own it without worrying about the opinions of other people.

YukoandHiro · 21/02/2023 09:25

Cas as a nickname is cute - and works for an adult man with his partner/friends too

IrritableCowSyndrome · 21/02/2023 09:25

Makes me think of Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali)

ellenpartridge · 21/02/2023 09:23

I like it

Are you the poster who asked about Rocco too? Did you spend a week calling him Cassius/Rocco?

I love Cassius and think you should be brave and go for it!!! He's two weeks old, he needs a name!

CastleTower · 21/02/2023 09:21

I still like it, as I said on your previous thread. It's clearly your favourite as you keep looking for reassurance! I think you should go for it.

RosesAndHellebores · 21/02/2023 09:19

@Livingbestlife this is a site for mothers principally. I think most mothers are aware their hormones are awry from the start of the first to the end of the fourth trimester. I am very glad you don't think it's rude to comment about something. It is a fact - many of us have been there.

If you want to call the boy Cassius, call him Cassius. If you still aren't sure, have a think about other names you and your DH like.

wildthingsinthenight · 21/02/2023 09:12

Love it!

If you are always as rude as on this thread op, I suspect you will do whatever you wish in relation to your boy's name.

If you weren't so quick to take offence, I'd suggest you reflected a little.

I wouldn't call it rude to comment on my.own hormonal state

I don't think it matters really but ok
You clearly do or you wouldn't have asked several times and still not decided on his name!

Well not several times and I didn't realise I could only talk about something once very sorry
