Great lists.

I love, George, FinlAy, Louis, Frederick, Zachary. All of these are in my top 10! I really dislike Ellis.

I don't love any of the girls but Freya is my favourite.

YOu know Hatrick...just been thinking about teh name Kitty...and it's growing on me...but also realsied that I used to call myself Kicki...which is pretty near Kitty, lol...which is probably why it's growing on me...
and well, I have made my opinion clear here over an over...if you liek the "shortenend"version and will use that anyway, why bother using the "correct" name...I hate it when people use a certain name, only to shorten it to another anyway....what a waste of time, lol...
obviously nicknames will often come along with time, but that is, to me, different then say calling my child Amelia officially only to shorten it to Millie...

MAMAZON · 09/02/2008 19:54

well i would vote for george and Ella (cos my two are George and Eleanor)

Spidermama · 09/02/2008 19:51

One of my children we gave a shortened version of the name to...( crap english sorry)

I do sllllllightly regret it - just feels a little odd and bereft of something but frankly the long version of his name is comical and truly odd!

i agree with the not doing surnames for christian

isla for me and George

PaulaYatesbiggestFan · 09/02/2008 19:38

well i think asking other people about yourm kids names is a bit thick.

if you like the name - fuck everyone else

especially on t'internet

HonoriaGlossop · 09/02/2008 18:32

hmm, I do see an in-law theme going on there hatrick Don't they KNOW that being in-laws does not confer the right to opinions? Tchah.

I do love opinionated people, as I said, but yes I agree opinionated in-laws are a challenge all of their own......

'very opinionated people' I like that, hatrick.

People are opinionated about names.

It's just one of those things. I agree people should use whatever name they like but if you are going to use a diminutive as a name then you have to accept that some people will pick up on that. I think it can be annoying - have a friend who called their son Jamie and who gets really irate about cards, etc arriving for 'James'. But I do think it's something that WILL happen when you are going against the accepted usage of a traditional name; doesn't mean you should not do it of course but you can't have it both ways!

And personally I had far rather talk to someone with strong opinions than someone without!

3andnomore · 09/02/2008 18:10

scorpio...I have come across a fair few MIllies over the [ast few years...sometimes they were shortened from Ameilia, other times Millie is the nmae (to me it brings the image of a cow...as, Millie is a cows name in germany, just as daisy or buttercup are over here, iykwim)
