Before i add it to my list, is this nice or just hormones talking?

I've known a couple of Siennas over the years so this seems like a slightly unusual take on it.

I looked at the stats for its usage over the years in my country and while its never been super common, the last couple of years has seen a spike in the number of girls named Vienna. (38 since 1974 but 23 of those were in the last 5 years)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I think just the same as everyone else - the song and Vienetta icecream!

If you want something that sounds familiar but will never be mistaken for her place of conception, what about Fiona?

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 24/02/2023 20:59

Came on to say “oooohhhhhhh
Viennaaaaaa” but I see I’ve been beaten to it by about thirty other posters.

It’s a good song though, and a pretty name. If you like it, use it. But be prepared for people to sing at her.

Maireas · 24/02/2023 05:48

Anyone else remember those triangular biscuits, milk chocolate Vienna?
Mainly it makes me think of Ultravox, Mr Rigsby's cat and Vienetta, like pp.

Talapia · 24/02/2023 05:41

You could go for Venetia instead

I prefer Sienna.
Do you like Mietta? French for small sweet thing.

Mietta is not French. "Miette" means crumb if that's what you're thinking of.

NosieRosie · 24/02/2023 05:09

Not for me but if you like it go for it. What you name your baby is up to you really

isthismylifenow · 24/02/2023 05:03

Ooh no.

It a a name of a sausage, and a cheap one at that.

rwalker · 24/02/2023 05:00

No too Jeremy Kyle for me

dreadful

peaceinourtime · 24/02/2023 04:56

Does it have a similar inspiration to the Beckham's naming Brooklyn? I have known of other Brooklyns but think when people hear a name that is a place name they will make the Beckham/Brooklyn connection.

KirstenBlest · 21/02/2023 07:13

@user1492757084 , according to my quick search, Mietta means minor and sugary. Not sure anyone would want to be called that.

stopringingme · 21/02/2023 07:13

No, you would get people singing the ultravox song at you - badly, and that would get very wearing very quickly

Wrongsideofpennines · 21/02/2023 07:09

I think unless there is some sort of meaningful connection to the city its a bit odd.

user1492757084 · 21/02/2023 06:45

Noooooooooo

mathanxiety · 21/02/2023 00:37

Nice sound - but it's a tasty hot dog brand, and the city is Wien, with the adjective Wiener.

I don't think its usable as a name.

Aquamarine1029 · 21/02/2023 00:35

Sausages.

xprincessxjanetx · 21/02/2023 00:34

Like a PP it makes me think of vienetta - not that that's a bad thing of course! But it's not for me.

newjobnewstartihope · 20/02/2023 22:49

ScentOfAMemory · 20/02/2023 18:49

Sienna isn't even the correct spelling of the city people think they're naming their child after.
Vienna is a nice song and the name of Rigsby's cat in Rising Damp.

Ha ha yes!

KeepingTheWaterOut · 20/02/2023 22:28

I think anyone my age (50s) would have ooooohhhhhh Vienna running through their heads.

Her schoolfriends wouldn't know the song, though.

TwoMonthsOff · 20/02/2023 21:02

Wien

MrsS0werberry · 20/02/2023 21:00

Capital of Austria
80s song

Not my cup of tea but everyone's different!

Amadeaa · 20/02/2023 20:59

I wouldn’t go for a place as a name. How about Vivien / Vivienne

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 20/02/2023 20:56

I want to sing 'OHHHHHHHHHHH, VIENNA!' too.

sorry.

Spanielsarepainless · 20/02/2023 20:17

Viennese whirls
Viennetta ice cream
The song 'Vienna'

And a city complicit in the Holocaust.

Give her something to talk about!

BinleyMegaChippy · 20/02/2023 20:09

It's my DDs name. Her dad chose it and I went along with it just to keep him happy. To be honest, Im not that keen on it. At the time, I thought "ok" she'll grow up and be a "girly girl" and that it would suit her, but she's such a tomboy, skateboards, football, etc, and it doesn't suit her at all. I never call her by it. I shorten it to Vie, and that's what everyone including her, uses now.
